It's a Zeiss lens and at f/2.8, it should be very sharp at that aperture, if not please dun even put the Zeiss blue logo on the lens ya? Most of us go legacy as we need shallower DOF and wider aperture than the f/2.8. It's quite limited what we can achieve on the FE35/2.8.

The FE 55/1.8 is another matter, seriously worth getting if U do not already own a great 50mm legacy lens.

Yeah, its a expensive for a 35mm, but being a Zeiss, its in a class of its own. It is still a great lens, although we are spoilt by the legacy lens, Lol.

Anyway, I'm still deciding whether to keep this lens once I got the CV 35/1.4 or ZM 35/2.

Rather u get d ZM35/2 to compliment the A7/R U R having. CV 35/1.4 will not give u tat edge U R looking for, especially after u used the FE 35/2.8.

I am using the 35mm f/1.7 CV Ultron ASPH on the A7. Sharp as the FE35/2.8 and better Bokeh. Will post some shots in the image sharing thread later. Keke... FE35/2.8 is good if u r lazy to go MF and dun mind a thicker DOF.

Hehe waiting for your samples to bring some excitement to the image sharing thread

I figured how to use the Eye focus. Interesing feature. But still cant make the green box stay with my initial focus point.

When I use multi point focus, the green box appears randomly , not at the point I would like to focus.

Ah I figured out using a copy of the detailed manual. Must set to AF-C, the Lock-on AF (start with shutter)

It's so small it doesn't even fill out my Android screen at 1:1, hard to detect anything brilliant. This photo could have been taken with any DSLR of the last 10 years and any lens. If you want to shoot photos like that, simply buy the cheapest DSLR you can find, a cheap wide angle zoom and spend more time with Photoshop. :)

Sure, like the latest Otus. ;)

Ok I think you misinterpreted, I was commenting that its brilliant that Zeiss is launching MF glasses, I wasn't attempting to critique or favour that particular image. :)

X is for the US Market. Bro overworked mentioned his is around late 1980s making it the latest version it seems. See this link below, really nice rendering from the 58mm f/1.2 Rokkor... *melts*

that's serious poisoning...

Do you mean the price is already without GST or you have to proceed to get the GST rebate? If it is the former, then tourists can get it for less GST price and GST rebate. A combine 14% off MSRP price?!? If it is the latter, it does not apply to locals.

For HK, all are selling at HK11990 for A7 and HK16990 for A7R. The only difference is in the freebies. Wing Shing gave me free 32MB SD, original charger and additional battery valued at HK620.

Price without GST. 35mm lens at $999. Comes with Sony freebies too.

Yes, u r right, locals only get 7% off. I checked KL on sunday, A7 not released yet. I guess i will try HK next month. :(

A few of us brought our cams for a 2 day holiday shooting and here are my experience with the A7R. So far, there are two major cons: Battery life and PlayMemories. You will need 3 batteries for a day shoot if you are using 1 cam. Usually for most cams, 2 are enough. PlayMemories app is still very buggy and very slow.
For people with are into "fast speed" shooting and planning to use manual lens with the A7/A7R, i think it is best to stick to legacy SONY FE lens for its AF feature. The focus peaking is not that fun to use! ...haha
Happy shooting guys!

Actually I found the opposite is true. The focus peaking is working very well for me and I just shot a wedding plus an indoor event with a fair number of shots with the A7 using focus peaking with a single 50mm M mount lens. I have found that with practice, I don't even need to use the magnification feature at all....

Oh I was under the impression that IT.Camera wasn't in the GST absorption scheme, only the Electronics Hub was in the scheme (and Electronic Hubs doesn't carry the A7R)? Gosh A7R + 2,8/35 without GST is 270+ of savings!

BBB! Make sure you speak mandarin and pretend to be a prc tourist. ;)

Any reason for that? For me the reason why 35/1.4 is due to 2 stop faster & smaller.

Smaller yes but not as tack sharp as the other lenses at 1.4 due to CA. Not bad for portraits but not suitable fkr landscapes. Hence I got the 1.2 instead

Even for portraits, it just lacks tat character n as u mentioned, very soft.

Ah ok ok, might need to reconsider my option again, lol.

Depends on how thin your DoF is, it can be tricky to sorely rely on peaking. Well, at least when I use it.

Agree... if u r setting to f/2 and narrower aperture and the distance of the subject is more than 5 metres, u dun need to actually go on magnification mode.

I was wondering any bro here know where to get more subtle looking leather-like strap for the camera?
