The camera was not primarily designed for 3rd party lenses, so that statement is not fair. It's an Emount camera...

I understand this...but I think Sony knew that many will be using third party lenses (also judging by the lack of E-mount lens choices at launch) since this is being marketed as an interchangeable lens camera.

For my own reason, I ordered this is so I could mount my Leica-M and Voiglander lenses on it, and for this I'm disappointed with the A7/R at it's current state. Perhaps the retail models will performs better...then again perhaps not?

It's not "prematurely released". Sony designed the camera with sony lenses in mind, and has corrections in place for Sony lenses.

Using third party legacy lenses is at your own risk.

Besides, anyone who's shot with the Leica M8 will also be veeeery familiar with color casts in the corners.

And why should sony then put in Corrections for the *hundreds* of non-sony lenses out there?

Interchangeable lens camera DOES NOT mean it's marketed as "Slap on lenses from any brand and it will be shiok shiok"!!! Goodness, if that's what you think interchangeable lens camera means (note that it does NOT say interchangeable brand camera) then you should stick to compact cameras. Just use a smartphone and instagram. Your sense of self-entitlement is far above your understanding of photography.

Also, you CAN STILL mount the lenses on it. You just need to run a quick correction step in LR/PS (which can be automated). And yes, these lenses suffer on the native mount as well. Maybe you should also go scream at Leica for requiring IR filters for the lenses on the M8? and then scream at Voigtlander for not making it possible to mount these filters on some of their lenses, resulting in very heavy Cyan cast when shot on the M8?

But no, I guess it's easier to blame Sony for the issues with non-sony lenses. Really intelligent logic you have there.

CDAF of the A7R vs CDAF+PDAF of the A7. I am reading that CDAF works best for mirrorless. Is there any difference when using the 28-70 on the A7R?

I am starting to lean towards the R. Decision has to be made soon.

i am starting to doubt if this camera is what i am looking for.. does it live up to its high expectation as some of the reviewers mentioned.
to be honest for me personally i have bad or rather unsatisfying experience of using Sony products (not camera related though)
so i am not sure how this one goes..

it seems that from the more test performed (esp by our CSers here) it does not look as good as it's claimed.. not sure if Sony can come with firmware upgrade to fix it..
talking about lens selection i also doubt it even though they already put up their lens roadmap until 2015.. i am not sure they can commit to it.. but heck with it.. i only use 1 or 2 lens anyway for my casual or family outings

Do you mean 35mm equivalent adapted SLR lenses or 35mm focal length lenses? Where did you gather the info that lenses have to be stopped down on the A7R?

I presumed it could perform better on post production models. A7 suffer less issues n possibly a better camera for adapted lenses. With further firmware updates, should b performing well.

I thought the magenta cast cannot be avoided on adapted M-mount UWA lenses. Anyone knows how adapted DSLR UWA lenses will perform?

Oh I apologise to you for touching your raw nerve and not being sophisicated enough to share a forum with a camera punk like you. Do I now need to be an Alpha fan boy to post on this section of the forum without some expert giving me a personal bashing?

Perhaps this is your subtle way of tying to convince me that I'm hallucinating and that there are no real issues with the A7/R as it is? or the fact there already exist a complete range of of E-mount lens that make all other 3rd party choices unnecessary or redundant?

I'm buying a replacement camera for my NEX-7 and I would like to use all the lenses on this camera, so when they show fundamental issues like these purple cast what's wrong with expressing my disappointment without you getting all personal?

Perhaps most buyers should just stick to their toy camera and leave opinions and feedbacks to a guru like you, if that makes you happy. And if this pains you, then stop reading my post as I'm not asking for your expert advice. Geez...

I have thought having less is better.

Technically, electronic first curtain is supposed to eliminate shutter shock, which then reduce shutter lag. Great if you need high shutter speed.
