A7 with Voigtlander 35mm f/1.7 Ultron ASPH LTM at wide open

Thanks for responding. So there will be better DR and higher ISO on the RX1R or the A7?

Actually I was looking at dpreview comparison widget and they differences are
1. BionX processor
2. Phase detect on A7
3. No flash on A7

If i were to get the A7 with 35 mm, I would be in the ballpark with the RX1R. hmmm....

I'd say about the same, though from all reports the new JPEG engine on the A7/A7R is very good.

Dun complain lar. It cost sony money to hold it at TCC.

feedback tells us that Sony should hold it at a Community Club next time. plenty of lights and old-but-still-hot aunties will come to see what the ruckus is all about.

then Sion shall grace us with his majestic self and we shall have a grand time taking pictures of hot aunties stripping while kowtowing to Sion.

If you are a 35mm shooter, can keep the RX1. It has good points still, such as sealed customised Zeiss lens meaning no dusty sensor problem, it is the last few model Made In Japan (if you care the origin- A7 and A7R is Made in Thailand to minimise cost), it is a F2 Prime and probably better than the 35F2.8.

24mega pixel is really quite a huge file to manage, and 36mega pixel (from my D800E) is really too big file for normal users to manage. You need to upgrade PC?

Some website tested wide angle Leica lens with A7R, and it produces a bit of magenta issue like Nex 7.

Will be attractive for users who prefers 50mm or zoom lenses though.

Btw, is the rx1 immune from dusty sensor since its a fixed lens system?

Maybe they should have held it in Starbucks.

The above url states very well the diff between A7 and A7R for those who are still not sure which to get.

I do not think one has to be too worried about AF performance. As seen on the EOS-M, it is a matter of firmware update(s) over time. And for those adapting lenses, who cares! Those not happy with in camera jpg processing can shoot in raw so not a big issue really. The magenta cast is for adapted M-mount UWA lenses which is already known issue by now. Those shooting UWA may have to wait for Sony's native lenses.

I am curious if the AA filter is removed from the A7, will it affect the AF system? Anyone who have removed AA filters off Sony Alphas before can comment.

CDAF of the A7R vs CDAF+PDAF of the A7. I am reading that CDAF works best for mirrorless as contrast is detected off sensor ,ignoring lenses used. I am also reading CDAF+PDAF is faster and better because it has both methods. Which is true in the case of Sony A7 and A7R ?

I guess this test settles it. There is smearing and purple cast on even the A7 with the CV15 on A7. Now to rethink whether to get A7, A7r or not at all.

This is unacceptable and getting ridiculous by the minute...looks like Sony has pre-maturely released a half-baked product where even a 35mm lens has to be stopped down to avoid the dreaded purple cast. Cancelling my A7R pre-order today, unless someone wants to take my slot! :bheart:

The camera was not primarily designed for 3rd party lenses, so that statement is not fair. It's an Emount camera.

Still don't know what to get.. the price difference between A7 and A7r can almost cover for the FE35 lens.

I presumed it could perform better on post production models. A7 suffer less issues n possibly a better camera for adapted lenses. With further firmware updates, should b performing well.
