ha... i called 3 places. mscolor, slr rev, went to CP and sony marina sq. none of them dared to confirm with me 27th definitely can get my hands on the camera, only that they will call once camera arrives. I chose CP since they don't need 100% deposit compared to sony and freebies are the same everywhere, prices same everywhere. Hopefully CP gets more stocks since they are slightly "larger scale" compared to some of the other shops
BBB Virus has never been that strong ever before. I am strongly resisting it this time after the A99....... must persevere....![]()
Come join d dark side.
I guess I will eventually haha. Need to save for it =p I just sold off my XE-1 in preparation for a start ... T_T
any other CSers who joined the hands-on session wanna chip in with more photos and samples from different lenses? Can't be just thoth, ray and myself who went right
I wonder if it makes any sense to buy the A7 and use with the 16 f2.8 E mount lens which will give a cropped output. Would there be any benefit compared to using a Nex 5T? And what FOV would I be getting if I use the 16 2.8 on the A7?

So based on all the CS bros user testing, A7r has more purple fringing issue? Kind of strange and surprising. But 7r pictures does looks sharper
That was impression during the session too, I talked to some of the Sony "trainers" there, who told me that it seemed to be universal. A7 JPEG is still over-processed IMO, and I had a really hard time working the 3,5-5,6/28-70 OSS on AF, and I didn't enjoy the sharpness even at 5,6 (28mm). My main contention seemed to be A7's overhyped high ISO noise reduction, especially at ISO 2000+, I tried examining at 100% for both RAW and JPEG, the difference was quite significant, most fine details were almost gone on the JPEG.
I tried to force moire patterns out for A7R as well, and it didn't seemed, at first glance, to be a major issue, as I had expected. The minimum focusing distance for the 2,8/35 was awesome, I believe it was less than 40cm, I was impressed.
On a more superficial note, I kinda enjoyed the shutter click from A7R, although it sounded as though the shutter was "slower" than A7.
For both camera, I would have preferred the EVF to be brighter, but it was bright nonetheless, it was comfortable, and the focus peaking was a brilliant addition.
thanks for the good summary. i think all the A7s A7Rs were probably set with high iso nr at normal. i forgot to switch it to off or low during the hands on... wld have been a better reflection of IQ. however most of my shots were iso 400-800 with fast lenses which were handled fine by the A7. didnt do much of a iso torture test that day haha
below is the image from CV15 at F4.5 posted yesterday for your reference. some of the light falloff is due to spot lights on the model and backdrop not hitting the walls and corner area
Wah. U still got time to play wif d menu? I gave up trying to set minimum shutter speed on auto iso. Haha
Thanks. There is indeed a band of magenta cast on the side. Looking at the A7 sample, the center seems over exposed while the side is under exposed.
Sony could have chosen a place with better lightings and access to outdoor for this preview.
i pushed the EV up on purpose for the A7 shot as i wanted the corners to be properly exposed given the spotlights were all in the centre.
