wonder if the AA can be removed from the A7 ... by sony - in future, like the RX1

they probably won't since the A7R already has the AA removed. no point cannibalizing their own products

Early reviews from Steve Huff says d A7 works better wif d UWA retro focus lenses than d A7R. Interesting.

Are you referring to SLR or RF UWA, because retrofocal type is basically SLR and symmetrical is RF?

A7!!! Haha

yes A7 hehe.... getting some attention finally!

Anyway for me, If I am looking at adapting DSLR lenses (canon) to use with the A7/A7R body and not range finder lenses, the A7 will make more sense right since DSLR lense do not need the "offset micro lenses" and other magical processing the A7r does to the image corners?

i placed myself on the pre-order interest list for a A7 kit. not sure if i shld change it to just the A7 body hehe....

these dpreview samples gallery must be one of the worst ever. not sure if it was the subject or the weather... or just the photographer's fault

All sample galleries at DPR are bad. They always look like shot by someone with zero interest in photography. I don't mean the technical aspects but the compositions are just horrible.

yea...so bad that it made me kind of lose interest in the A7/R for a moment. The pictures from Stevehuff and the problogapher demonstrates the full frame ilc concept much better

if they were doing for a particular test i.e. to show DR, High ISO, details, there's no need to focus so much on composition IMO.

No need but makes them more pleasant to look at ;) and if shot by someone who enjoys photography it doesn't take more time than the random snapshots they always post.

Most of the current UWA RF lenses are retrofocus in design. For example, the Leica 21mm Elmarit-Asph is retrofocus, but the older Super Angulon is a symmetrical design. The current Zeiss 21mm Biogon is symmetrical. In some cases, even UWA retrofocus SLR lenses have issues. Kodak and Leica had to use offset microlenses in the DMR (digital back for the R8/R9) to achieve good corner and edge performance.

Won't that make your existing setup more enjoyable with the AF lenses?
i.e. A matching body to grip the bigger AF DSLR lenses ?

Further more AF and Apearture control may not be that refined should there be a way to control these with adapters

we should recommend you to the mods to test the A7R and A7 :bsmilie:

Uncle Ed, hear that? :bsmilie:

my existing 5D3 will still be my main system. The A7 will be more of my backup/social camera (replacing my m4/3 system that was sold), which is why i wanted the kit zoom.

AF using adapted canon lenses will probably not be that good, but the "smart" metabones/equivalent adaptors allow IS and direct electronic aperture control using the camera body, which will let me have some fun with my current primes.

true the lenses will probaby be "over-sized", same as using A mount lenses on the A7, but overall the size will still be smaller than a 6D/5D3 haha...

plus i have always liked the DR from sony sensors which is much better than the sensors from canon hehe....

i highly recommend using voigtlander and leica glass with Novoflex adaptors

Thanks for your clarification. I am a little outdated as most of my generation RF lenses were symmetrical.

yes will buy some of the smaller/reasonable priced voigtlander rangefinder lenses like the 35 / 40 mm 1.4 to play for the small size, probably will avoid the leicas. too pricey for me hehe.

My thought exactly :-)

That's what I thought initially too... damn somewhere somehow, the slope became a vertical fall, an abyss!
