The kit zoom cost $300. I do hope that it will not be a piece of crap else I can see it as the lens on cam most of the time until Zeiss comes out with their Touit, or Sigma comes out with their Art series with maybe a 35/1.8 :) . I am not jumping into the Sony primes yet.
Should be $400 here as part of the kit.

Anthony, if one does not zoom in to details and look at the photos taken based on composition, I doubt there are any differences. The thing is people like to zoom in to look at the leaves on the faraway branch, or the eye lashes of a face. Then only the A7r will be good enough.
Also with small pixels, no AA and high pixel density, I wonder how easy it is to get tact sharp photos handheld.

To keep lenses small, I doubt there will be f2.8 zooms. That may also preserve the niche for Dslr Alphas.

Back in the days when I used to work in a photographic lab, I used to admire medium format film positives and compare them with those of the 135 format. Under special enlarger system, the projected image on print paper looked very different. Although sensor size does project some differences, I have not seen any 135 format images that are close to those that I see from medium format. Some of the ooc jpeg files from the A7r that I have viewed seem to project this feel and look that I have not seen in a while. Anyway, I will wait for both cameras to be thoroughly tested. OOC jpeg images do not present the true IQ of the cameras. I don't quite like Sony's in-camera processing, so I definitely have to wait.

Well, this video at SARs actually confirms how I feel about Sony's in-camera processing:

noted the Q10 is retailing at MSRP. Still $400 is ok for a variable aperture zoom lens. :)

I have no idea about MF. I don't know if simply having 36MP w/o AA will make the image MF-like or will need even bigger sensor size than FF. I will just stick to my objective of acquiring an everyday portable FF camera. Anything else being bonuses. I suspect the MF is why Sony is collaborating with Hasselbald. While we are laughing at Lunar, the day will probably come when Hasselbald launches to the Solar.

Yes, for most uses, either camera will be more than adequate. Since I am not concerned with AF, I will choose the better in terms of IQ, based on my personal feel and look. Cheers.

yup if AF is not a concern the A7R is the camera of choice.

For the A7 which has Phase Detect AF sensors built into the Sensor, I wonder if the Phase Detect Af sensors will help on lenses such as A mount or EF mount lenses mounted using adaptors (not the sony adaptor with translucent mirror PD AF)

I read on Sonyalpharumors that the entire Ziess rangefinder lens line will be released in FE mount. That would be awesome for the A7r

BTW, is the E-mount and FE-mount the same? So 3rd party adapters that worked on Nex will also work on the A7?

There is NO "FE mount". FE is just a marking on the lens to indicate it's a full frame emount lens.

As for your signature, there's no "NEX A7" either. You'll be waiting a long long time. ;)

Think of it like on A-mount. The lenses are either marked as DT or not, etc. But its the same A-mount, there is no "DT A-Mount". :)

Looks like there are samples from legacy lenses and the general consensus is that 35mm and up lenses will generally face no issues. Wider lenses might be usable depending on the lens with some corner fix. http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/the-big-a7r-with-manual-lens-test-roundup-11000-noctilux-lens-voigtlander-minoltd-mdmc-canon-fd-and-zeiss-zm-tests/

Watching watz Sony gonna do abt it.

Firmware. Whether it can resolve d UWA magenta smearing issue like how Leica did it wif M240.

Did you even read the article? There is no smearing, it's sharp. Just magenta color cast.

There's definitely some smearing on d CV15 test shot on d A7R. I dunno if u had read d other articles.
