Back to A7 n A7r, which to buy?

With both the Zeiss FE primes, 35f2.8 n 55f1.8, current pre-production units are producing excellent photos. Coupled with the coming 24-70f4 and the future 85f1.8 plus a possible 16-35f2.8 (I hope), do I need anything more?

So, if I were to buy all the Zeiss FEs, which cam should I choose?

Depends what you shoot.

I will go for 7r. I will fall back on my A99 if i need AF speed. So far the 7r AF has been acceptable. The resolution without low pass is brilliant. I shoot mainly landscape and scenery; dont do video as well. So I will settle down for the Zeiss primes and slap on my Alpha lens if I need more reach . The FE 24-70 F4 would be a nice zoom. Hoping for Sigma to release their version with larger aperture lol.

1 of each!! Use the a7r for landscapes and potraits and the a7 for everything else. Put different primes on each camera when you go for a shoot to minimize lens changing in the field and also to minimize dust on sensor. If you can afford all the zeiss fe lenses, you should probably be able to afford both cameras.

Think I will get the A7. Cheaper faster and better for me lah.

Haha hope the kit zoom is good for video

U intend to get with the kit zoom? Then when the 24-70 f4 come out how? Or have u already decided not to buy that? I really can't see anyone who will buy the kit zoom from bns. I am thinking of A7 with the 35/2.8.

or just wait for the F4 to be out then buy together with A7.

I also confused.

Definitely getting the 35mm and the 55mm.

The kit zoom still undecided.

Half thinking I need the f4 zoom, half thinking most of the time the primes would be on the cam. The zoom maybe just for video casual use

i am gonna go for the kit with zoom lens first hehe... for primes I shall try using smart adaptors with my canon lenses, at least one "faster" focusing lens from the zoom lens for daily use, and slower focus / MF via adaptor for my canon lenses for the thin DOF.

Depends what you shoot.

I had to bring the discussion back to A7 and A7r, and you still ask about shooting. Problem is, I shoot everything.

Jokes aside, I will definitely choose the 24-70f4 zoom, which means I can wait and let others test both cameras thoroughly.

if you need phase detection AF and C-AF tracking, the A7 would be the logical choice. For the most MP and theoretical highest IQ, the A7R.

I saw a set of exceptional quality photos from the A7r with both the 35f2.8 and 55f1.8, can't remember where, and they are ooc jpegs. Raw will be many times better, and I hope the 24-70f4 will be the same, then I will need only one AF lens, which is what I normally have in all my previous n current systems. I will most likely go for the A7r as I don't quite care for AF. But if the Zeiss FEs are really that good with A7r, then I will be in trouble.

Then the A7 is for you

Anthony, if one does not zoom in to details and look at the photos taken based on composition, I doubt there are any differences. The thing is people like to zoom in to look at the leaves on the faraway branch, or the eye lashes of a face. Then only the A7r will be good enough.
Also with small pixels, no AA and high pixel density, I wonder how easy it is to get tact sharp photos handheld.

To keep lenses small, I doubt there will be f2.8 zooms. That may also preserve the niche for Dslr Alphas.

The kit zoom cost $300. I do hope that it will not be a piece of crap else I can see it as the lens on cam most of the time until Zeiss comes out with their Touit, or Sigma comes out with their Art series with maybe a 35/1.8 :) . I am not jumping into the Sony primes yet.
