"Sony A7, A7R: Breakthrough in Image Quality in a Compact Package with Killer EVF and LCD Too."

This article appeared at Lloyd Chambers blog for a short while and was removed. I saw his initial review of the A7/7r with the initial 4 Zeiss lenses:
They are really light weight and compact. The 35f2.8 is only 120gm, the 55f1.8, 281 gm, the 24-70F4, 460gm and the 70-200f4, 840gm.

Sony A7r USD$2,400 36MP

Leica S2 will take a hit. SGD$32,550. 37.5MP
Leica M will take a hit.
Fuji X Pro (APS-C) will take a hit.

Why were they not hit / less hit when the Nikon D800 36MP was available?

Because with the SonyA7r full frame mirrorless + adapter, many other legacy lenses can be used.

But it is good news. Other manufacturers will be challenged. If Sony can make a full frame mirrorless to sell, so can they.
Expect similar from Canon and Nikon.

And that is good news and bad news for consumer...... good news.... we got more choices..... bad news.... pocket getting lighter by the day.....

Hasselblad DSLR will take a hit [in my opinion it is seems to be a ? body with a Hassel name plate + Fujinon lenses (no longer Carl Zeiss) ]

HD40 40MP USD$19,000

HD50 50MP USD$23,000

Why bother?
Just use a Sony A7r 36MP with adapter + legacy Made in Germany Leica lenses that you already have (and no need to buy MIJ Fujinon)

A7r and A7 specs

A7r:
- Lightest FF camera with interchangeable lens ever
- 36.4 MP
- gapless lens design on sensor (no AA filter)
- each on-chip lens is optimally positioned depending on its location to accommodate the sharper angle of light entering the periphery, which is caused by larger sensor dimensions being teamed with the E-mount’s short flange-back distance
- new BIONZ X image processing engine
- 14-bit RAW image
- ISO 100-25600 (with 50 ISO extension)
- Advanced 1200-zone evaluative metering
- 4fps (Max. 1.5fps, Speed Priority Continuous shooting)
- 1/8000 to 30sec shutter
- TRILUMINOS™ Color technology (color space)
- 1080 HD uncompressed, 60p/24p and 60i frame-rates. AVCHD and MP4 codec.
- 2.4M dot OLED EVF
- 25 points contrast AF
- +/- 5EV compensation
- tiltable 3.0” (1,229k dots) Xtra Fine™ LCD
- Multi-interface Shoe for flash
- PC control with remote video capture control
- Wi-Fi®/NFC control
- Playmemories App
- weight 465g (with battery and card)
- battery 1080 mAh for 340 shots (with LCD monitor always on!)
- weather sealed body

A7 (I do only list what’s different from the A7r):
- 24 MP (has AA filter)
- 117 points (phase-detection AF), 25 points (contrast-detection AF)
- 5fps (Max. 2.5fps, Speed Priority Continuous shooting)

Hmm.. I cant help but to wonder...

With A7/r now..they are also releasing Zeiss 35/2.8..

How will this combo above compete with their very own RX1/r (Zeiss 35/2).. in terms of result and pricing..
Note. With the former..u can change lens now..:)

HK Price..

A7R (body only) 16,990
A7 with SEL2870G 14,490
A7 (body only) 11,990

Exchange rate is about...6.18 HKG per $1 SGD now.

NEX range of course slimmer in size. When using Alpha lens, you still need that adapter and so, thickness more or less the same. No build in AS but A7r more for landscape/portrait, hardly need it but A7, seems like only the new FE lenses can take advantage of it. Battery life low, which one thing I don't like. I still hoping Sony can produce a A99 replacement with high mAh so that we could take photos/videos for a day without worries. Like their video camera, having those extended version, need to have it on their DSLR too.

So, I still have to wait for A99 replacement and wondering who will be buy the A7/A7r asap. :D
