Not sure this has been shared before. I got the grip for my A7r, which can put two batteries in the grip. But I find Sony software a bit strange, where the cam only start using the 2nd battery when the first one is totally used up.

But I also discovered that you do not need to put 2 batteries in the grip, just one will do!

Anyone can advise if the LAEA4 or 3 is worth getting?? Are there any A or E mount lenses that would work well and AF well on the A7?

Yes that should be the right way. One completed then the other one and furthermore the grip is good to ensure a better stability while shooting. One battery can enable it to work is great feature too. Sony did a good job in this.

Dont u think its actually better likethat? Using up one batt before going through the other one, instead of constantly drawing power from two batteries simultaniously. Ease of charging too. Just charge the battery that has been used.

La-ea 4 is meant to drive old minolta and alpha lens with or without ssm and sam . With the adapter on, the a7/r becomes a full fledge dslt with full pdaf capabilities. So AF is definitely a non issue and it will be faster than metabones and other adapters.

But I would advise to get the adapters only if you have invested in alpha lenses or has intentions to invest. The Carl zeiss alpha lenses are extremely heavy , think the hands will Ji after using :(

I bought the adapter.. I felt its worth.. For me its not the size of lens that matters but I can grab lens cheaper on those Minolta ones.. Also the sal lens.. A sell 10-18 costs $1000+ ouch.. Haha..

i bought the adaptor too but no A mount lens to use with yet hehe.... for future "expandability" option.

yup. same observations as you.

For 4) Amazon US, just change your billing address to a vpost usa address and voila! you can purchase the prepaid PSN redemption card.

Actually you don't need to have a playstation to buy the gift card. I went through the process and found the following...

1) The lens correction app is only available in the US sony store but not the SG store.
2) The US store will only accept US credit card (I assume so because it rejected my sg card)
3) Paypal is also not an option because it will reject the credit card that is not based in US (Paypal told me that... I hope she's correct)
4) USD10 Redemption card can be purchased from Amazon but Amazon needs a US address... (go figure..) Amazon accepts international credit cards and a code will be accessible from the screen. This code can then be entered into the website for purchase.

Tried the lens correction app and found it to be quite useful for the CV15. I prefer to correct the image before the shot that doing postprocessing later..
1) The magenta fringe can be removed to a certain extent but I have not figured what is the best lens profile setup.. still a noob.
2) The yellow fringe still exist on the top of the frame and this cannot be removed...
3) The app has distortion correction too but still need to figure out how to use this...
4) App can process images in jpg and raw
5) Remote commander is not available.

That's all I can think off.. Quite an adventurous day already. Cheers!

Woah you got it without alpha lens ? Haha hardcore

Should stock up all the Cz alpha lens ! Cz 135 mm 1.8 solid

la ea4 can get cheaper and faster lenses. Af will be FASTER than native e mount lenses. Also better focusing in low light

Main drawback:
The a mount cameras have ibis, as a result all a mount lenses have no os(optical stabiliser) built in. Except for the sigma 70-200 os version.

any bro know of any shop has stock for Gariz case now ?

Mine works well so far. Some of the Sigmas have AF problems with the LA adapters but Sony A mount is usually fine. I'm using the Sigma 150mm macro and Sony 70-400G with my LA EA4. My A mount 35mm 1.8 SAM focuses very fast but that's an APS C lens.

Just came back from Funan. Stocks not here yet. Only got samples. Orange one look verychio.

hehe wanna see orange one can also meet up with brother Thoth :p

I have a red one coming in from Korea currently in transit haha

hmmmm so your sigma 70-200 doesn't AF well with the LA adaptor? hmmmmm i have a sigma a mount lens on order right now....wonder if i shld cancel it

I'm thinking of getting this adapter too... but then thinking of getting the metabones Canon adapter instead, because it's worth 'more'.
Either way, both worthless to me as I don't have Canon or Sony lenses. Only worth once I sell it!

Hi guys,

I know this might be a long shot and admins, if this is not allow, please delete my post. May i shamelessly ask if anyone will be buying the Sony A7 soon and is willing to let me tompang buy the LA-AE4 adapter with the purchase-to-purchase program?
