you need the remote app on the camera n play memories on phone..start up the remote app in camera, camera acts as hot spot n shows you the network name n ssid. Go into ur iphone/ipad available wifi connections , look for the a7 network , enter the ssid shown on camera to join the camera's network. Then enter the app on the phone. App establishes connection with iphone/ipad . Taaaa dahhh. give the iphone/ipad 2-5 seconds to stabilize latency and its live view should be a lot less choppy n smooth. it's pretty much self explanatory from there onwards.

Tks bro. Will try tonite.

btw those interested in the FE55 F1.8 might wanna order online if you want the lens fast. Had a chat with one of the sales staff in Sony and he mentioned stocks for the lens are delayed and estimated to arrive in Sg only in mid jan

Anyone know where can I find a copy of Voigtlander 20mm f/3.5 Color Skopar II in PK Mount? Tks

ha.. isn't hawk's made in Taiwan. at least that is what it says on my V2.5 model. but seriously, hawks's helicoid is the first adaptor to offer such close shooting features on leica M lenses, the voigtlander is a clone of the hawk's then.

my bad... haha...

Clone or not... most important it stays precise after much use, especially with moving parts.

I rather trust the Japanese to do a better job.

Tried out the smart remote. Pretty happy with the refresh rate. Another good thing is that you get full ISO control. It even goes into focus magnification when activated on the camera.

Only improvement I thought would be good would be the display of focus peaking as well.

Considering that I used to have a D90, with the much talked about 35mm f1.8, and frequently I find it get not fast enough.

I presume the a7/55/1.8 will be faster than my previous d90/35/1.8 setup because of the full frame sensors? How much faster do you reckon?

Don't expect FF to be faster. You will need minimum 1/100 shutter speed, maybe even 1/150 to avoid motion blur. That will be your limiting factor as there is no VR.

F stop 1.8 is 1.8... No difference.
Only thing at 55mm ff the dof is much shallower than a 30mm crop.

The main advantage of moving to FF is you can boost your ISO without a hit to image quality. I believe with the D90, ISO1600 is probably the max usable. With the A7, you can probably find ISO3200 quite usable.

However, FF sensor with F1.8 gives a narrower DOF than on your APS-C sensor. With the A7/A7R, CDAF is used when there isn't sufficient light. However, when in low light situations, edge detection becomes harder and as a result AF will be impacted (hunting). Thus it might make it difficult to photograph active kids
