Short answer, a7r has no option for electronic front curtain and therefore louder and more vibrations.

Go to 313 and try for urself.

Confirm cannot.

Wow. Even w burst shots, also not possible to take indoor shots w active toddlers ah?

Looks like have to get the A6000 instead and then built up the FE lenses. So that when the A7 mark 2 or A8 is out, can switch back.

with good lighting , maybe still manageable.

You can practise shooting with MF and prefocus. Thats what I've been doing with my a7R and previously 5D series for sports.

just purchase the motion app.. pretty good. no need to take multiple images and stack

How well does a7r handles long exposure say 2 seconds, 20 seconds to 30 seconds or more. I sometimes do 4 mins plus exposure.

I dont use tele other than 50mm.

My concern is that:

does the vibration affects long exposures?

Does it also affects photos at 1/160 or 1/50 of a sec? - found this issue in the internet.

Please enlighten me a7r users coz im planning.

I think it performs like any other camera in long exposure. A but noisier ISO perhaps.

I try not to shoot above ISO 400 in all cases.

Just remember to switch on long exposure noise reduction. It doubles ur exposure time, but the removal of hot pixels is worth it.

Anyone can advise if I should get the Zeiss 24-70 or just settle for the kitlens.

Currently using the 35mm. Thought of getting a zoom for casual video and holiday.

Is the Zeiss worth the additional 1k++?

For video, yes. Constant aperture to maintain exposure when zooming during video. OSS also helps in video. It's less than 1k more expensive than the kit lens. With the zeiss 2470, u can sell away ur 35mm because the 1-stop advantage is negated by the zoom's OSS, if u dun mind the size difference.

Hi bro thanks a lot for the advice. I read conflicting review on the lens. Most saying the lens is not very sharp.

Any personal experience with the lens?

Coming from Nikon 35 mm F1.4 G.

I find the Sony FE 35 w a7r even sharper

It's true...Although the 1 stop difference between the 2470 and 35 is compensated by the OSS, the image quality isn't.
The FE35 id way sharper than the FE2470. Zoom lenses are never to to compare with Prime lenses. I sold my FE35 for the 2470 thinking the 1 stop was pointless to keep the FE35...but now, i regret selling away the FE35...Although i still like the FE2470, it's no replacement for a good prime for IQ..i only like it for the convenience...

I was camping here for u bro... been waiting to hear from your perspective since u were one of the early adopters of FE 24-70 over the FE 35... Guess your experience of the FE primes had really set a high bar for yourself expecting FE 24-70 to fulfil..

Haha, yes...the FE primes do set the standards pretty high and the zooms just can't match them. During my Canon days, the EF2470II matched and even bettered some of their EF primesm maybe becuase their primes weren't that great....but the Zeiss FE2470 isn't any match to any of the Canon 2470 lenses IMO.
Don't get me wrong, i still like the FE2470 and i still use it almost on every shoot simply because it's small and versatile and most of the time the IQ is decent enough for most things and since my FE55 stays on the A6000, i know i'll have a good 85mm field of view when i really need the sharpness and details.
But there are times i wished i had a good 35mm lens...as of now..i don't and most likely wont buy the FE35F28 back again..maybe wait for a better 35 F1.4 :)

However, i think the ONLY people complaining about the FE2470 not being sharp enough are ourselves. I have seen Wedding photographers these days purely shooting with the A7r and 2470..and i'm sure there will be more and more..and i'm also sure the clients aren't the ones complaining it's not sharp...we are the only ones complaining..not the paying customers haha

U guys missed the point? Casual video and holiday. Hands down sel2470z. There's only so much a 35/2.8 can do. Not worth keeping it if u get a sel2470z.
