Official Sony A7 or A7r discussion thread (Season II)

that I am not sure bro..

Strangely, I dun haf such issues on my Sigma 19/2.8 on my A7 even when I shot long exposure at f/11 in the late evening aiming at lamps along the Changi Boardwalk... Must b some lemon A7 sensors... :bsmilie:

Don't change the subject...my offer for $500 ai mai? I'll throw in a 18" Paul Frank doll to sweeten the deal :bsmilie:

Back on topic...anyone here think that us A7/R users are Sony's version of guinea pig to develop a killer 50mp A9/R? just like Ferrari did with their FXX program haha. I believe the A9/R will finally push those army of fence sitters to jump ship

Siam.... Yada Yada Yada... I dun mind U give me the 18' Paul Frank doll though... Tks... :bsmilie:

Your set is a A7R but they forgot to paint the red R

Anyway, you shoot mainly F1.2 (and assume it is F0.95 until your Noctilux comes), so why worry?

Tks to bro ricleo's leatherette cover... I cant even see the "7" on my cam now... Just the Alpha sign... So apt!

Thanks for your input bro, lol but I am not that naive to think that I can entirely trust the shops, just wanted to know if any bros here deal with these used lenses outlets.

Understood your concern about "quality" of purchase, not my first rodeo either, don't worry about it.

They are dealers buddy, and their business is to sell lenses. Very difficult to define "reliability", as it is not as simple as buying a brand new lens from Sony with 12months warranty and one-to-one exchange.

The price are "marked" to market demand/supply, and thus if you are not sure about the "market" price of specific lenses, you will end up paying extra.

You need to do your homework before going down, and you need to know how to check lenses. Once bought, no return.

Thanks for clarifying. Since you seems experienced in this, your question of reliability will be of a different light.

I have bought and sold some cameras/lenses with/to some of the shops in Peninsula Plaza (almost all), mainly Leica products.

They visit CS websites all the time, and buy/sell over the CS as well. Thus, they are aware of the interests in different cameras/lenses (generally). Typically, if you are selling things to them, their quote is nicely below the lowest of the selling price in the CS BNS, so that there is a margin for them to sell later, which is still competitive.

If you are buying from them, the "reliability" part I will assume is on the condition of the product.

Reliability is built into the price. Mint = Very good condition = near RRP (or more if not available in the market).

You will be surprised that the price they quote for brand new lens is higher than some reputable shops such as Cathay Photo, since reputable shops typically gets price rebates for some older models and they will pass the benefits to buyers to clear stocks. Especially Canon lenses.

Japan was first to released the 2470

I think I've seen similar issue with Olympus EP/EPL series before... looks like sensor issue if I am not wrong I cant remember what Oly model has this issue...

I do think I have some shots that have one of those back reflection artifacts.
Seems like it needs to be a direct light source and shining in the direction of the lens.

But for now, most shots are ok, so I'm not over worried.
In fact, some night shots seems to be pretty fine.
I won't be surprised that lenses with short focus designs (usually RF wides) and native lenses (if kept small with rear element near sensor) and very old lenses w/o good coatings (or none) will more likely exhibit this issue.

55FE stocks are ready for collection.

Just came back from Funan with one bling bling set.
