Official Sony A7 or A7r discussion thread (Season II)

Was wondering if any bros are familiar with dealing used lenses from the shops lined in Peninsula Plaza/SC?

Or if any bros have any opinion on which store is reliable for buying used lenses?

(Am looking for used MD/MC lenses to try try)

They are dealers buddy, and their business is to sell lenses. Very difficult to define "reliability", as it is not as simple as buying a brand new lens from Sony with 12months warranty and one-to-one exchange.

The price are "marked" to market demand/supply, and thus if you are not sure about the "market" price of specific lenses, you will end up paying extra.

You need to do your homework before going down, and you need to know how to check lenses. Once bought, no return.

Haha.. Told u bro... Mine copy is super minty... A very rare gem indeed. It's a keeper for special moments... Something that FE 55/1.8 cannot match in that sense... That kinda painterly drawing full of character, renders Bokeh beautifully smooth that makes the background melts away pleasingly and yet the subject is prominently sharp and popped out from the photo... Very few lenses can match it... It's a heirloom to be handed over to the next generation, I am merely just holding it out for them. LOL

Another victim :-)

Once he tries it... It just sticks... Really a rare gem to keep for generations and generations... Sometimes I wonder why ppl r even selling them? LOL

you make me drool bro Rokkor 58 is a real keeper don't sell it unless you find a lens that could beat it.

some don't like the MF others don't like the lens limitation e.g. Rokkor 58mm is an old lens and technology during that time cant match with today's technology so the lens has a lot of limitation compare to newer lenses.

Tatz y I supplement it wif d FE 55/1.8. Haha. Even wif its drawbacks, d rokkor is amazing.

from old timers like us we would prefer the rendering of the old lenses. :-)

I am lucky to be able to get a minty copy of minolta 58mm f1.2 with lens hood @ 500plus. The lens gave an artistic feel on the photo but then it is one of the heaviest lens... But im not complaining :) Really hard to get a minty copy.

50/1.2 Noctilux ;p BBB

Haha... Super rare and expensive... Next best alternative would be the Canon FD 55/1.2 SSC AL or the Noct Nikkor 58/1.2...

Buy from HK cheaper right?

used to be able to match BNS(here) prices .. but they've made adjustments. Now is cheaper but not as good.(eg. Bought my CZ85mm for only 1.6K from Man Shing with tourist warranty in 2011)

The price of the 55mm in Sony HK store is HK7990, 2470mm is HK9390. Not sure how much cheaper they will be in those Mongkok camera stores. Sony store salesman told me stocks for the 2470mm will arrive tomorrow (27 Jan)

Side track : For those who want to buy their A7 kit in HK, i paid HK$12450 for my set. :)

Wing Shing, Fortress , Suning are selling them at HK14490. Wing Shing freebies are ; a cheapo tripod, original battery charger , 32GB sd card and a box of butter cookies. (can't remember if there's a free cleaning kit too)
