Official Sony A7 or A7r discussion thread (Season II)

Is the shop called i-sound? Before immigration right? Maybe can compound with GST absorb ... hmmm

No, inside after immigration. I think the price is without GST

Yeah... always cheaper to get camera/lenses inside the Airport, provided they have stocks of course.

No GST for a local set with full warranty, the savings is quite substantial of 7%. Just lens alone, the savings is enough to get a nice UV filter.

At this price, it is better to buy from airport than those in BNS which are brought in from Korea, Japan or especially HK, where the sui huo (grey market) is probably around or less than $1K only yet some are asking for around $1.3k. This type, confirmed no warranty and risk is very high for repairs/servicing. Depends on luck, AF lenses may need calibration at the service centre, or motor issues. Camera body is worse as anything from dirty sensor to LCD monitor, etc..

Too bad no plans to travel the next 2-3 months... if not can help to grab!

Just saw 55FE and 35FE on sale at camera electronics shop in T2. 55FE price was $1268

12-40 is f2.8. That is already too compact if compared to 24-70 f2.8. Cannot compare to f4

Been using the FE24-70/4 for the past week and I found it very balanced with my A7R. Do remember that this lens contain OSS so it will be slightly longer any non-OSS lens of the same kind. I found both the FE24-70/4 and FE55/1.8 to be great, and pretty well built as well.

F4 on FF has more depth of field control than f2.8 on m43. The 2.8 only has a one stop advantage in light gathering. I'm sure the A7 is more than one stop better in terms of ISO :)

What will be the total cost of A7+24-70f4 combi

Lol. The debate about cost:benefit/performance issues across systems will never end. Let's not go into it :p

Alternatively, if u just want to know the price, you do some simple googling or search sony sites. Perhaps slightly more than 3 grand for street price. Panny combo would also cost a little to a lot more than 2k I guess.

What will be the resolution of GX-7+12-40/2.8 combo? This debate can go on and on...not sure what's your point here? The guy just posted a size comparison with a M4/3 camera/lens combo and now we are debating about cost of camera system?

Folks! Am doing a write up on the A7R. Intro and initial thoughts of the camera is up. Will be adding more thoughts later, especially when I receive the 24-70mm f/4.

how's the Zeiss Biogon 21mm F2.8 performance on the A7R? i'm thinking of getting this or the Voigtlander 21mm F1.8 Ultron.

F1.8 is a consideration since i'm also thinking of doing low-light streets with it

Go for CV 21/1.8... better performer with lesser issue on your A7R...

Yes, I kinda regretted not getting the CV 21mm. Costs lesser too.

They are at home but I can say that sharpness is never an issue. Got to deal with some barrel distortions though, which I find disappointing. Colour shift and vignetting are a given on the A7R.

Got the call! Collecting my 24-70mm f/4 later!!

I got a call too, but not a zoom person. Maybe if you poison enough with pictures...

Biogon, symmetrical lens design to cutdown on overall lens size.... no good for mirrorless...

Go with telecentric designs...

hmmm... sometimes I wished Sony made the flange distance wider, albeit a thicker camera body... at least the lenses don't have to be so big and long, and there is a bigger range of UWA lenses to play with.
