Shanghai - Hongqiao

Shanghai - Pudong

Shoot in the air from a recent trip to Jakarta, saw this plane (not sure which airline painted orange word "Lion") flying nearby.

A Lion Air MD 90 perhaps?

Agreed that the GE engines does look pretty good on the F-15 as compared to their PW counterparts, unfortunately the F110-GE-129 turbofans will not be producing the classical high pitch whistling noises typical of the F100-PW-229 that power our F-16s when the Convergent Exhaust Nozzle Control (CENC) is activated.

Hi 9V-Orion, you certainly do know your airplanes don't you? Yeah, no high pitched whistling from the CENC... But the 129s certainly do put out more power than the 229s with requirement for more air, hence the big mouth Blk 50 F-16s compared to the Blk 52s.

questions.

1) why does the top-most F15 have a different tail number format?

2) did Boeing ask RSAF for permission before they do this phototaking? hehe.

but ya.. such new and clean planes... but then again. RSAF planes and helicopters always look clean even after many years of use.

my OC who did Ops Flying Eagle in Aceh last time said RSAF and SAF's equipment is cleanest.

the other countries... some of them even have bullet holes still on them. haha.

1) All jets assigned to USAF squadrons, including ours, will have a flagship. The first jet is the squadron flagship hence the squadron number.

2) I'm sure they did. We would be in real trouble if they launched a jet secretly and then snuck up on us to take this photo without us knowing. :)

gilcrest, no USAF F-15s?

I managed to snag the Qantas Socceroos jet in Melbourne, banking soon after takeoff. (click on the thumbnail for hi-res pic in Jetphotos.net)

Yes, is either MD90 or MD82. I was surprised the 2 planes actually fly so close to each other. This is a closeup shot of the same plane.

 Nice take on the Socceroos jet; much clearer and sharper than my take at Changi. F15s, hic ! 6 months ago I saw one at WSAP with no camera in hand and not into DSLR yet.:)

Boeing 787 Dreamliner is going take the first flight tomorrow.
Hope everything goes well.
Another 2 hours to take-off.
Live webcast available.

to where?

I think it should be from KPAE(Paine field, Everett) back to KPAE. The 787 just completed high-speed taxi tests and got its FAA experimental certificate so it should be ready for the first flight.

Actually it's from Boeing Everett Factory, Paine Field (KPAE) to Boeing Field, King County International Airport (KBFI).

The flexing wing of B787 when airborne is simply awesome. :o

Based on both the photo, the two aircraft seems to be making a simultaneous parallel approach into the aerodrome, minimum horizontal separation in such a situation can be as low as around 1000 meters.
