Singapore Spotting

u can never get this shot unless u are as fit as a fighter pilot

Actually this was taken straight and level therefore it would be as comfortable as flying in a passenger plane. Plus I don't think fighter pilots are that fit anyway since you can't move very much in the cockpit. ;)

Extremely glad to see that photos are still coming in, thanks to all who had contributed. :D

What do you guys think of this? Photo courtesy of Boeing.

Does anyone know what's the protrusion thats just below the canopy and above the intake? Is it a sensor of some kind? Never seen it on F15s before. Its also cool to see the GE's exhausts on the F15.

Those nozzles are really cool aren't they? The USAF F-15s had so many issues with the "turkey feathers" falling off the Pratt and Whitney's that they decided to remove them all, hence that naked look with all the nozzle actuators showing. The GEs with the turkey feathers on do give it such a slick and aerodynamic look.

Agreed that the GE engines does look pretty good on the F-15 as compared to their PW counterparts, unfortunately the F110-GE-129 turbofans will not be producing the classical high pitch whistling noises typical of the F100-PW-229 that power our F-16s when the Convergent Exhaust Nozzle Control (CENC) is activated.

The wedge shaped protrusions are definitely not VHF/UHF radio antennas nor does it seems to be a antenna fairing for the SATCOM or any other datalink modules. My best guess is that it should be a portion of the Electronic Warfare (EW) suite providing threat warning and Electronic Countermeasures (ECM) against incoming threats.

questions.

1) why does the top-most F15 have a different tail number format?

2) did Boeing ask RSAF for permission before they do this phototaking? hehe.

but ya.. such new and clean planes... but then again. RSAF planes and helicopters always look clean even after many years of use.

my OC who did Ops Flying Eagle in Aceh last time said RSAF and SAF's equipment is cleanest.

the other countries... some of them even have bullet holes still on them. haha.

Shoot in the air from a recent trip to Jakarta, saw this plane (not sure which airline painted orange word "Lion") flying nearby.

Boeing 787 Dreamliner is going take the first flight tomorrow.
Hope everything goes well.
