hi everyone

For those who wants to shoot the final approach at RWY02L, you can do it somewhere at Changi Bizness Park area, not too far from S'pore Expo MRT.

Of course, the wind direction must be correct if you want to be at the right place. It is an open field, so no problem about any restriction. Just don't use a big-mama lens that the pilot might think it is an anti-aircraft gun ...

time of shoot - 5 o'clock onwards as the setting sun will be shining on the aircraft.
The light condition usually is good & it is possible that you can shoot till 1915hrs .
cheers

Just to add, the best spot is at the roundabout. You'll need at least 200mm (on APS-C) to get a widebody to fill the whole frame though.
For those whom does not have any personal transportation, shuttle buses runs in the morning, afternoon and evening (applicable for weekdays only and not including public holidays) from both Expo and Tanah Merah MRT station. That'll be 20 cents per trip (not free).

I don't recommand anyone to stay beyond 2000 hours as it gets extremly quiet, often i find people driving there for some hanky-panky after dusk and i even find a shelter filled with used syringes once. Not somewhere you want to be caught with a DSLR by a bunch of hooligans high on alcohol and drugs.

During weekends, you might find some Indians playing crickets or soccer on the field too. A wide angle lens will be useful to capture the on-going play and a plane on final approch in the background.

erm, just curious, if taking pics from indoors wouldn't the glasses degrade the photo quality?

thought from outfield should be better?
Not really significant if you don't pixel peep. If it wasn't for the ongoing construction due to the upgrading, i would have spent more time over there just solely because of the climate control.

Anyway, back when some the airline's offices are still located between terminal 1 and terminal 3 (accessible from near the viewing gallery at terminal 1 (now closed)), i went into the male toilet to find a middle-age man with a Canon 1Ds on a tripod taking photos of a aircraft taking-off at runway 02L (there's a window inside). I stared at him and he stared at me like WTF, wondering if the guy is reading this. :bsmilie:

I took this picture from Marina Barrage..

hi 9V-Orion, did not notice your question that day.

sorry, I am not a LAE & also not an expert in aviation.
Just someone who is familiar & has access to Airbus EFIS/ECAM, AFS, Flt Mgmt & ATR42/72 & heli power conversion systems.

Occasionally I do visit airlines on technical issues.

cheers

Love the internal shots. :D I have a couple of shots in the avionics bay and the cargo hold, not sure if i'm allowed to post them though.

Are you one of the LAE from 8 Changi North Way or from "the other side of the fence", just asking. :D

I LOVE this shot! It's perfect. The angle, the composition, the colours.. Wow.

You should try to upload this to Airliners.net.

Thanks for the comment.
I thought you need to pay for airliners.net account registration? No?

9V-Orion Images, are you LAE from SIAEC?
I'm working at the opposite of T3 runway.

Yup, take from indoors would degrade the photo quality. But, I got no transport so I seldom take from outfields, can't run in time in case you know who comes :P

But ok lah, least the cleaners wipe the glasses quite often.

Cowz.

Another find at Seletar

oh, actually think the outdoors are better as you'll never know where they are monitoring from. :)

also, there's some bus stops around the area.

only thing is to put up with the heat.

btw, what time would be good at seletar ah?

Try from 4 to 6.30pm on weekdays; not sure for weekends. Its abuzz of activities when I'm there.

Here's one from Changi, I find it rather interesting to share with the swallows pearching on the wire watching the aircraft land.

Nope, you don't have to be a first class or premium member to upload photos, a basic free account will suffice.

I'm not a LAE either, just someone who does sai kang for them. There're lots of aerospace company at the opposite of runway 02L / 20R, i'm with "杀死狗" at 8 Changi North Way. ;)

What helicopter is this?

No idea, it was doing test circuits the whole afternoon I was there.

It looks quite new so I took a few pics of it.

Here's another view from the ground.
