I had plans to actually photographed aircrafts taking off from RWY 20R at Tanah Merah Besar Road the previous evening, a brief visual reconnaissance of the aerodrome and a final confirmation with ATIS at the frequency 128.6 before I left SASCO reveals that RWY 02L and RWY 02C are used for departures instead.

Despite the showers, I proceeded to Tanah Merah Besar Road nonetheless and will posts a couple of insignificant photos after I uploaded them. :)

RSAF 121 Squadron "Brahminy Kite" @ Changi Air Base (West).
Fokker 50 Maritime Enforcer MK. II MPA, RSAF S/N: 718 (C/N. 20311).

A night of patrol begins with a long journey through WSSS for 718, a Fokker 50 Maritime Enforcer MK. II Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA), as it navigates down taxiway Whiskey Papa (WP) before passing through one of the South Cross taxiways and taxiway Echo Papa (EP) just to line up with RWY 02C.

Shortly thereafter its sister 717 (C/N. 20308) landed at RWY 02L.

Went to Changi Beach on Monday (21/9/09) morning to photograph planes landing. Beautiful sky but turn cloudy in the afternoon. Sharing some Airbus and few variant of AirAsia captured. C&C are welcome!

Love it! Nice collection of the A320 family.

What time were you there? I think you captured different planes than I did.

I think you were pretty close to the SAF terminal?

Thanks! Glad that you like them.

Was there from around 10am till 2pm. A bit late and missed the QF A380 which you managed very nicely.

Yes, I was very close to the SAF terminal for a better side view of the planes.:)

Another attempt at WSAT in the morning, hate the general haze condition of recent.

Ohh! BEAUTY! Where is this location?
Emergency exit "whiskey two" at the end of Tanah Merah Besar Road. ;) Which IMHO is an excellent location for shots of aircrafts rotating and taking-off from RWY 20R though as hengpy had observed, RWY 02L and RWY 02C was used for arrivals and departures respectively during the late evening hour that I had spent there.

I will typically parked my car at the sheltered bridge just short of emergency exit "whiskey two" and shoot RWY 20R departing aircrafts from within. :)

yah... maybe we can have a spotting outing... :)
Singapore Airshow 2010 seems to be an excellent opportunity.

No AP to shoo you away there? Or go at your own risk?

I will pretty much say that plane spotting at any of the emergency gates is done so at your own risk (especially with a DSLR) as the aerodrome (WSSS) is gazetted as a protected area/protected place as per Section 4/5, Chapter 256 of the Singapore Statutes, though I had only been intercepted once by SPF: APD throughout the numerous times I was at emergency gate "whiskey two" and was asked politely (in a non-confrontational manner) to delete any of the images deemed inappropriate.

Do also take note that it is NOT an offence under all of the following acts...
... to photography an airborne aircraft from a public location (which incidentally includes the roads leading into the emergency gates), a letter of confirmation from CAAS on this issue will be appropriate if you are stopped from doing so by ignorant airport police officers. ;)

"airborne" aircraft? So once they have touched down is it an offence?

Ok, I know I am just nitpicking here, but just wondering.....

Notice the brown stain along the belly of the A330-302? This happens when cabin crews constantly dump coffee and other beverages through the wastewater system and out from the FWD. and AFT. drain masts of the aircraft.:angry::angry:

More or less, that is an affirmative and as such airport police officers does have the rights to request that you cease and desist (C&D) all photography activities even within the viewing malls of the aerodrome terminals.

As a rule of thumb for me, photography of any aircraft airborne above the top of the perimeter fencing is considered "fair game".

Did you manage to catch hold of the KC-135 taking off also? I was near there for work, but forgot my DSLR..:(
