While image quality is definitely nowhere near Canon's top-of-the-line professional L-series flagship lenses, the Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS is a fairly decent lens for its price value. Majority of my aviation photos here and here are captured with that lens and it definitely offers a bang for the buck IMHO.

For this time of the year, yes.

But planes can land from the Changi beach side if the wind is blowing southward. Do correct me if any of my info is wrong.

From what I have read, pilots prefer to land/take off against the wind.

Another easy indicator is to see windsock, where it points is likely where the planes will come from, for landing
