Any big jets coming in WSAP for maintenance soon ? Have seen ANA 744 on approach while driving along TPE sometime back.

Hmm, I am not really sure if I should discuss company aircraft movements in the public though the wide-body civvies do land quite frequently at WSAP on an almost regular basis.

For those who are taking Singapore Airlines planes, please note that they are retiring the Boeing 747-400 and Boeing 777-200ER series. Especially the B744. Currently, they are flying for FRA and JFK, every night at 2340hrs and NRT/LAX at 0940hrs. The A345 is departing for LAX at 1620hrs on certain days.

Catch them if you can.

The last I heard, the retirement of the SIA B747-412 "Megatop" fleet had been postponed indefinitely till 2011. :think:

Anyway im still anticipating for their arrival of those 787s...thou its still years more...hahaha...does anyone know what engines they are fitted with? Trent 1000?

I guessed so? :dunno:

Considering the extremely good relationship between SIA and Rolls-Royce.

I wished I had my 100-400mm L at the time the photos was taken. I further screwed up the photos by not remembering to tune down the ISO sensitivity from ISO 3200 that I had set the previous night in the heat of the moment, the midafternnon sun doesn't help either. ^.^"

Great pictures. Thanks for sharing. I believe 122 sqn goes by condor, and I think some sensitive pilots might not like the word attempt, from "attempts to line up with..." as that implies tried to but not necessarily succeeding.

Anyone has any clue to the dates of Air force open house this year ? Also for runway cycling are there any static displays at the Apron area. thinking of signing up for it.

runway cycling should have the newly acquired f-15s on static display. air force open house usually occurs somewhere in the 3rd quarter.. after the runway cycling..

That is an affirmative, wasn't exactly expecting to see the Strike Eagles flying around though.

RSAF internal rehearsals will be conducted on every Wednesday from the 2nd of June 2010 to the 16th of June 2010 while SAF combined rehearsals including NE shows and the NDP preview will be conducted on every Saturdays with Sundays as an alternative backup day from the 19th of June 2010 to the 21st of July 2010.

Those photos of the F-15SG are way sharper than what I had captured, I could at least make out the tail number on her. Thanks for sharing it here. :thumbsup:

The duo General Electric F110-GE-129C turbofan engine noise level from that of the F-15SG to my surprise is even quieter and softer than the single Pratt & Whitney F100-PW-229 from the of the F-16C/D Block 52. Hydraulic actuated Convergent Exhaust Nozzle Control (CENC) nozzle seems to be alleviating the noise level to a certain extent? :think:

Yup, the GEs don't use the CENC like the 229's, but I don't think that really makes a difference wrt noise. If anything, I kinda like that high pitched "zoop". You can tell when the new guys are flying because throttle bashing on final will result in multiple "zoops". but the GEs though rated the same as the 229's do give more poke as attested by numerous USAF pilots that have flown both the block 50 and 52 vipers.

I'm not sure if the GEs are quieter than the 229's but I'm sure the CENC doesn't add to it. That momentary high pitched "zoop" is quite insignificant in my opinion. I actually kinda like hearing it... You can always tell when a junior guy is flying when there are multiple "zoops" on short final. One thing I do know is that the GEs give more punch compared to the 229's though both are rated the same, as attested by Usaf pilots that have flown both the block 50 and 52 vipers.

Ha ha! That's a really good phrase! I'm sure the c-130 pilots would be thrilled to read this. Btw I'm not a c-130 pilot. and it's not about ego, but rather the desire to do it right and to be good at what you do.

I don't think the F15SG engines are quieter than the F16 on take offs. I notice the sound of the take off and the reverbration is stronger on the F15. I 'm used to heaing F16 take off at Choa Chu Kang areas, the whole of this week,I can tell it was completely different.

However, luck has it that my timing was screwed when the opportunity was there while I can't be there for that photographic moment.
