That's good. Think "machine" is an under rated title for an expensive camera.
Sabahan - let us know wat u think of the digital quality when u finally get it.

Just saw the price here. It is about 8.5K sgd and under.

hi where did u see the price? is it cathay photo? they are taking pre-orders?

Ya just saw the review by dpreview. The M8 is a beauty. Not sure if the digital quality is up to the mark. At that price I would expect the best of the best. Anyone know enough to comment on the digital quality?

the DMR had pretty positive reviews of image quality. I just have a feeling we should not be expecting near noiseless high ISO quality like that of Canon's, but a "coarser" but sharper out-of-camera image due to the lack of the AA filter.

but Leica had firmware updating delays / bugs with the DMR's firmware. i'm just a little concerned that they will not be able to support the camera with timely firmware updates....

When I heard that Leica going to release the digital M camera,I call my dealer and said I want the camera if its not more than 15K,so its consider cheapsince it is not going to over 8K now.

He must love you and your deep pockets. Tell me, how much do you have in your bank account right this very moment?

That case, why don't you get 2 units, and loan one to me? ;p

u can do that by number of steps when you walk pass the subject, or using another person who've walk pass the subject and number of step to reach the point u want to shoot. 1 step is about 1 feet.

Another gauge is when I shoot in a house, each square floor tile is 1 feet.

On the wide angle M lenses, u'll noticed a tab on the focusing ring. when tab is pointing downwards, you're setting distance to 5ft, point to the floor and u'll noticed the distance the floor is somewhat within the treshold (depending on how tall u are).

i've a friend who practised with an RD-1 for a month and he can now shoot w/o looking at the markings, esp for outdoor when you shoot at f4 and smaller.

Don't think that is very helpful using 1 feet. For one leica lenses are now marked in meters..

Doesn't affect me, my 35 summilux and 35 summicron are still marked in feet...besides, once you know the lens well enough, u don't even need to look at the marking, it's just by feeling the tab position.
