[Official] Fujifilm X-T2 thread : delivering Creative Perfection to you

Whereas the X Pro2 only need to benchmark against X Pro1, the X-T1 will get a lot more competition. Quite tempted when a read reviews about the Nikon D500's performance esp low light and focusing speed. I hope the XT-2 is a huge jump over XT-1 in these areas.

The XT-1 is wonderful on holiday shoot or portraiture etc but shooting indoor events is a different story. Besides focusing and low light limitations, battery dies with little warning; making the handgrip with 2nd battery almost mandatory. XT-1 with the handgrip plus batteries is only 200g lighter than a FF Nikon D750.

probably will have the same low light performance as xpro 2. With regards to Xt1 Hmm I haven have problem in low light. Don't have problem with the battery either (I don't spray alot )

You mentioned about focusing and low light limitations, have you tried any of the fast prime lens with the X-T1? Here's a link for a review on the 16mm f1.4 lens with X-T1 shooting in really low light situation. The reviewer commented that "The autofocus is generally fast and very reliable." with the combination.

I using 56 1.2 or 35 1.4 ... when shooting in low light .... I don't get much issue with focusing in low light.

I won't really compare a DSLR with a Mirrorless as they are different camera types , for one the lack of decent live view on a DSLR breaks it as a choice for some users already.

I've shot the 16/1.4 on the X-T1 and even X-T10, at times even shooting by moonlight , don't really seem to have much issues with focusing.

Having more than a batt is typically for any setup anyone has for an indoor event. Never seen a proper photographer shooting an event w/o a spare batt either.

Anyway , the grip for X-T2 will do better than X-T1's grip in all areas, at least doubling to tripling the extra shooting opportunities before a batt swap is needed.

No need to be so defensive...only complained about battery indicator suddenly going flat; hence need to shoot with the extra batt in grip. Who shoots event with 1 batt even with DSLR?

Yeah all is fine when I shoot with 35 1.4 only issue is when I change to zoom and need to set speed to 3200; facial features look artificially smoothened over and edges are indistinct.

Just curious which camera and zoom lens combination at the same price range can shoot in low light condition with speed at 3200 and give good quality photos?

There are cases where i shot at 5200 iso even with 56 1.2 in ball room.

I think he meant 3200 shuttle speed in low light condition, not iso.

Let's hope so  :bsmilie:

Come to think of it......not a very good idea. Like that will be very tempted to change a new camera body liao :faint:

he didn't mention low light. But for discussion, better if the iso speed is clarified.

He mentioned 3200 caused skin to be smooth out ...
So he is referring to iso 3200 noise reduction

XTrans II does have an issue with waxy skin at high ISO values (6400 and above) , for auto-ISO users sometimes they don even realize what ISO values they are shooting at until they are back at home.

One way to clear this is to set a maximum ISO value if one does auto-ISO. (Mine is capped at 3200 and 6400 for B&W)

With XTrans III, these issues have been resolved (go google a bit and there's quite a few samples from those who deliberately shot at ISO values most people won't use generally to show this).

To buy or not , eh ... Up to oneself. XTrans 2 is still very capable and It really goes down to one's budget vs performance needed

he said "need to change speed to 3200"... Unless it's a typo

I shoot my kid during swimming with xpro2 at iso 8000 pair with xf50-140. Very good clean pics.

This remind me of weather resistance .. Last time those olympus e3 ... I see ppl just put the whole camera and lens in water ... Never see ppl try that with Fuji haha

Maybe Keith can do some water resistance test with the xt2 ...
