Official EOS1100D thread

Urrrgh
Just found out, Canon has introduce yet another battery for the 1100D
What !!!

how does that help ? just change the format of the battery. Internals are basically the same....
Just madness

Think the battery life quite good, can shoot like 700-800 photos according to some reviews i read

Is eos 1100d a good buy? I am hesitating between a eos 1100d and 600d , am a beginner Dslr wannabe.Pls advise which to go for.

1100D is a basic DSLR, entry level.
600D has more added functions.

Yes, The battery is very good. It can last a few days, with on-and-off snaps here and there. The third party battery cost about 45bucks, original cost around 80++.

Hi bro can share where to get the 3rd party battery?

We bought this 1100D at Parisilk for $792... good deal :)

The 1100D is a great camera, thanks for those who help..

Used it for a week now, its small, light and pretty fast... Grabbing it, turning it on and shoot with the 18-55 lens is really easy and fun to capture those moments.. I rather grab this than my 60D which is too heavy i feel...

Tested the 1100D with the 17-55mm F2.8 lens and its really awesome.

Only 1 complain, the LCD resolution quality not very good so when you take the pictures it just dun look great until you pop the card to the computer or view the SD card on a 600D or 60D, it just looks nicer hahaha...

The 1100D basic control modes like full auto and creative auto, landscape or protrait mode works awesomely... each function when you turn on there is a brief description about it, what a cool feature for newbies like us.. my sister loves it...

The 1100D image quality is good.. even im an owner of a 60D that cost two times more i personally find the 1100D a good cam and decent quality plus feature.. for that price, its quite a good deal, I mean putting the dollar, cents and sense, the 1100D gives very decent and great pictures...

So now you know what I'm talking about when I compare my 5D to the 1100D. Yes, it is that good, and the price difference is astounding. Of course, you will get more features the more you spend, but if you know what you need (and I do know what I need), the 1100D is a very capable camera that fulfills almost all my photography needs.

Yes agree... actually thanks for starting the thread and giving me your views... would like to thank bro Fit44 too...

Its astounding when my friend who is quite a good photographer professionally, grab it and took some shots and the pictures were like woah!! Its the hands and eyes behind the camera that plays a very important part as well.. i dun deny that equipment functions and feature yes its important to some and sometimes good to have... but for me i guess its more important knowing the joy of shooting and if you are good then you can try to work ard the limitations of the equipments

Hey can i ask if the 1100D material is the same texture as the 500D onwards cams. Does rough nice feeling to it? Or is it plasticky like the 450D> Cams?

Its plasticky... i like it actually... hahaha

yes... whether they got stock is another thing... red not difficult to get.. black seems to be harder cos some shops had sold out their blacks... but stock came in mon and yday cos some of the shops called me despite me informing them purchased haha they told me in case i got friends who want to buy

Evening everyone,

Just got us the 1100D and hope to get recommendations on which lens hood (standard 18-55mm) and filter (Hoya or B+W) to purchase.

Thank you all in advance.

My honest opinion is that you need neither. My reasoning is that a Canon-original lenshood is rather costly for what it is, and the situations that you would require it are not frequent, and you can easily adjust your framing a little to get rid of the glare. Filter, well, its a decent-performing lens but rather cheap so you may as well take the monies you've saved from the two items to put toward a decent telephoto or macro lens or flash instead.

Thanks r32 :)

Hi brothers,

who are still using their 1100D?

I'm still with my 1100D. Love the lightweight and button simplicity. Gripes include, feel the body a bit too light (dual edged). Pop in the my external flash or USM lens, it'll feel lopsided (top or front heavy etc.). The body is also plastiky. Sometime feels like I could just break it when gripping. When used over long period of time (4-5hrs when I cover parties and events), feels the smallish grip gets uncomfortable. Fingers & thumb feel like pinching it rather than gripping.

ooooo even with battery grip its still doesnt solve the problem?

I've not seen any 1100D batt gripe in the local stores (including online). Not sure how the batt grip will will work with 1100D when the memory card is in the battery compartment (another of my gripe). But I guess with the additional 400g, it might help to redistribute the weight.
