Can i ask a noobie question?

When i use the view finder to take a pic of my cupboard, i zoom till the edge of the cupboard sits right on the edge of my view finder. After i took the pic, when i did a playback, the picture taken contains beyond the edge of the cupboard. i.e. the object is smaller in the photo.

However, when i use the LCD screen to take the pic, the end result is same as what was shown on the LCD screen, i.e. no change in size.. can some kind soul explain if this is normal? and teach this noobie a thing or 2? :bsmilie:

another qn, from page 46 of the manual, it states that:

"to take a photograph during movie recording, press the shutter release button all the way down and hold in this position until the shuttle is released."

I started movie recording, but when I depress the shutter, the movie recording stops before the photo is taken.. is this the correct behavior?

You don't get 100% viewfinder coverage on most entry level dslr. D3100 is 95% coverage.

Hi guys,

I'm looking for a flash for my D3100, and I'm wondering if any flash would do. My budget is actually quite minimal, around $100, so I'm also wondering if I'd be better off not buying a flash at this moment. I don't need something very big, just a basic basic model would do. Any help please?

Either look at the SB-400 or save it up for a better flash next time when you need it.

Check with you guys...D3100 can use wireless remote anot??

Original no but 3rd party RF type 2 pieces (remote/reviver) should have..
Those receiver to plug in the MC-DC2 remote port.
Those for D3000/D5000/D90 should be compatible as all using MC-DC2, look for
it at the Mass Sale section.

Hi guys i am a proud new owner of a D3100!! just wondering.. Since the D3100 is a DX format DSLR. Can we use a FX lens on it? or are we strictly bounded to DX format lens?

Hi guys/gals, i just got my nikon d3100 today. So when i store my camera in my dry cabin, do i need to de-tach the lens from the camera? Or i can just leave it attach to my camera? Plz advise, thanks.

hi i just my d3100 today. by the way, anyone bought Jeff Revell book: Nikon D3100: From Snapshots to Great Shots? i read great reviews for his D5000 book. I wonder if D3100 book is worth buying? :)

You are able to use FX/DX lens on the D3100 without any problems but note that as the camera itself does not have the focusing screw for older lenses to AF.

As for storing in the dry cabinet, either storing it with lens attached or not does not matter.
