I got the original grip together with the 7D, however I seldom use it. Coz as it's my secondary camera, I would like to have it as light as possible. That one of the main reason why I got the 7D instead of 1DM4.

Another reason why i like to use the grip is coz i can have 2 batts on my camera,which means longer shooting period

i am just a hobbyist who shoots during free time only. the little bit of weight, i can still tahan.

The grip seems to balance things out better... especially with the larger, heavier lenses.

Does the "Made in Where" important to you? Or is the specs and features = image quality gives a better edge? Made in Japan does not necessarily mean better quality images or features.

The first batch of 5Dmk1 bodies, I think 'Made in Japan' if my memories didn't fail me, have some issue. The mirror will drop off if engaged in high speed shooting mode. This issue has been addressed by Canon and it is FOC to have it fixed by Canon.

U're right about the reflex mirror having a tendency to fall off as the epoxy used for the hinges is not really made for our local climate. For me, I didn't have this issue even after using for quite some time then.

So when I sent my 5D for general cleaning at CSC back then, they checked for me even though I never request it and left my camera there for a day. All they did was to affix 2 bumper plates on each side to reinforce the mirror, thus solving the problem and of cos, it's free.

It doesn't just affect the first batch but subsequent batches as well.

Wah, you like that say also can ah?!?! ;p It's not necessary lor. Wherever it is made in, the warranty still carries the same.

Not necessary. There are lots of recall for vehicles (Toyota) that are made in Japan, but no recall or lesser recall for vehicles (Toyota too) that are made in Thailand. So no matter where the camera is made in, it is still the same... because the QA or QC are still from Japan too.

Need advises...

My company had a 3 days event. So I brought my 7D to shoot as event photographer. So when speaker speaking, I used my 7D with EF 70-200mm f2.8 L mount on monopod to shoot with high speed shooting. First and second day it was ok. But third day, something happened! while still shooting with same setup, also WB is setted to AWB all the while but all of a suddenly the images becomes reddish and skin tone of speaker turned yellowish! All shots using AWB during the first 2 days were fine but under the same conditions on third day it sucks... So I tried setting my WB to 3000K and the shots are 'normalized' no color distortions. Then after 3 hours, tested shooting back at AWB, normal again!!! Sorry I cant posted the photos as my working company owns the rights.

Is it sensor got heated up?

May I asked then how about grey sets? Arent grey set = non-QC goods, rejected goods or stolen goods?

I suppose they have a SOP to chk every single 5D that comes in for servicing, just to ensure that the mod is done.
