Official Canon EOS 7D User Thread Part I

Zone AF tends to give inconsistent AF points... i still think that using Spot or Point is more reliable...

That is my experience with the 7D AF also. Using all AF points is practically useless, but spot or point is bang-on.

That is true... unless you are on a UWA lens with huge DOF... then almost everything will be pretty sharp. =)

Would like to ask, anyone knows the way to find out actuations of 7D?

U mean shutter count? There is a shutter count meter for each charge of the battery. Other than that, there is no way - u have to bring it down to CSC for the shutter count.

Ya i meant the actual shutter counts. Oh ok, no way to check the actual shutter counts for 7D. sad. thanks!

You can disable the resetting of file numbering, in a way you can gauge the shutter count from the amount of pics you took.

Hi there, anyone here using Nissin Di622 mkII flash? I can only trigger it wen it sensed the built in flash firing..In other words, can the Nissin n 7D be sync wirelessly so that i dun need to fire the built in flash?

i don't own the nissin but from my research, answer is no. the wireless flash feature only works with Canon flash gun.

you can get it to fire off wireless by using wireless trigger/receiver though.

That is the main function of 7D for slave flash. But you must use your pop up flash to fire the external flash. The best alternative is to a wireless trigger for flash. It will fire the external flash wirelessly without using the pop up flash

Eligible for membership are full-time professional photographers who own officially imported Canon photography equipment (EOS 1D-, 5D-, 7D- series, and at least two L-series lenses).

Ok, so if I have the minimal equipment, just that I am not a full timer, I cannot qualify??

But what benefits does it have actually????

Hi ALL,
Thanks a mill for organising this thread. Btw, 7D is fantastic for amateur photographers. I'm satisfied with it at this point of time. Below are some pictures captured with 7D to share with all out there.

I first started using canon equipment 2 months ago on a 600D with 18-135 kit lens. A month later I sold it and got the 60D with 18-135, brought it to Bangkok for a week during my holiday. I later sold this too and now am considering the 7D or even 5D, any recommendations?

That's easy. Buy them both, then sell them both after a month and switch to Nikon :)
