If you do not know what you usually shoot,i suggest you get the 18-135 kit...

I normally like 2 shoot on live performance at a gig,moving objects & potraits....hmmm:D

Does anyone know how much Canon charges to repair a battery grip (BG-E7)? The shutter button has stopped responding on mine. Half-pressed is fine (the camera will attempt to focus) but when fully pressed the camera does not respond or take the shot.

Hi vincentckh87. The issue may not be with the battery grip. I had a similar problem where all buttons on the grip are working fine except for the activation of the shutter (yes, half press autofocus still works). Turn out that the problem is with the body and the grip works fine now after some parts on the body was replaced. Not sure about the cost as the body was still under warranty at that time.

Crap that doesn't sound good. My warranty ended early this year. Thanks for the info!

I also just noticed my other buttons on the grip are not working now. Argh!

Hi, I'm upgrading my camera and I'm in a dilemma, choosing between canon 7d and nikon d700. Pls advice. Thanks.

Thinking of getting third party battery for my 7D, is it safe to do so? Will there be any harm to the camera body. Btw, I'm using battery grip, can I use third party battery and original battery together? Pls advise. Thanks

i have one third party battery that i occasionally mix with an original batt in an original grip. no problems so far. make sure you get the one with a battery level information feature. some of them don't have, so you won't know if you're running out of juice already

previously i asked csc about it and i think it's about $80.
btw, the rep said the grips don't have warranties even if you've just bought them locally :dunno:

Hi 7D Users! I just purchased mine a week ago. And I realised that whenever I shoot at high speed continuous, the focus seems differ from pic to pic. How do I solve this issue? Thank you for your advices!

More info please. Have you manually choose a single point, are you handholding the camera or have you latch it to a tripod.

If you want to make it persitent , don't use the Zone AF or All Multi Point AF , just set as single AF or i usually use expanded AF ;-) .

First of all, it's not an issue. That's the way it works with the camera settings you have. as what @rhino123 said, you need to provide us more info--e.g. focus mode, lens, is your subject stationary/moving... for starters, i suggest the following: shoot in AI Servo mode and Zone AF, while keeping your subject inside the AF region. note that if you're shooting in high-speed continuous and your subject is moving rapidly, chances are, some of those shots are not in focus. if your subject is stationary, the center af+one shot mode will do, but remember to keep your camera steady and to recompose (if necessary). This will also depend on how fast your lens can focus
(P.S. I personally shoot center af+one shot most of the time.)

oh sorry. er yea.. Zone AF and handholding. Is it because of the Zone AF?
