Well I know it draws power..but in the first place before I got my grip n sent my camera for servicing the first time the battery life wasn't good at all....just plonked in a new battery just now at about 8+pm..now it's 11'42pm..took 42 shots...only left 65%..used some of my battery grip to shoot..still...it's way way way under what it's suppose to be able to shoot...lol..
Maybe change battery? Make sure is LP-E6N.
Maybe ask for 1 to 1 exchange for the body?
I will.when they can't get it fixed...already wasted 3 weeks in their hands
Really makes me wonder how did they conduct the previous test? hold down the button in continuous mode and test finished in 5 mins? Did you give them the timestamp also, so they can probably make more meaningful test on their own.
Maybe request a live testing with you observing them?
I showed the senior tech the timings on my phone.Lol..but will email them the photos when they get down to it..4 days worth of battery screenshots.haha...think I can go do their RnD for them..but I really wondered how the other tech tested 400 shots with only 1 bar down...I really really wonder ..when I can only get 400 shots after maybe 2 batteries?

wish i had the time
I've been following this saga also and I sincerely hope that you'll get a new replacement soon. It would be in your best interest and it would be in Canon's best interest also.
I've been following this thread closely. I'm surprised that Canon didn't offer a 1-for-1 replacement early after much effort & time spent on your part, especially when this is a top APSC model. Potential 7D2 customers might be deterred from buying after reading an experience like this. I thought Canon's lack of proactive response is unacceptable. Your unit should have been sent back to Japan for a thorough analysis to find the root cause with corrective action taken in production line. Sorry to read of your plight. I suggest you write in to the HQ in Japan should Canon SG not replace it soon.
If it's really the same camera setup, I can only conclude that they just did a spam test of 400 shots in one go... (you probably just got 400 shots off the long camera shutter lifespan)
I wonder if they will insist that there's no issue despite showing them the pics.
