OFFICIAL: CANON EOS 7D Mark II - User Thread

That's weird cause 650D have it, when my eye is near the eyepiece the LCD will turn off.

Did 5D3 not have this function G-Man, and thanks for helping out.

According to the Camera Labs review the 5D3 does not have this feature:

"Canon EOS 5D Mark III shooting information and menus Like the Mark II before it, the Mark III can show a wealth of shooting information on its main colour monitor. To view any shooting information, you’ll need to press the Info button, which cycles through up to three pages of details before then switching the screen back off again; there’s no eye sensors below the viewfinder to automatically switch the screen off. Like the 7D you can view shooting settings, camera settings or an electronic two-axis levelling gauge,"

I'm guessing all modern xxxD should have it, at least I noe my pre loved 600D have it.
Cool feature though, btw my 7D classic dun have it too, there's actually a couple of
Not so important stuff dat I miss dats not brought over from 7D classic,
The zooooooming in all the way through live view aft a shot for viewing purposes , used to be able to zoom in a lot , but am still ok with it,
But I still fail to allocate CF to contain RAW while SD to contain JPEG, not in the book too...

I use this feature on the 5D3 quite a lot!... I'm surprised that the 7D2 does not have it.

Regarding the zoom in for viewing purpose iam abit confuse. Do u mean to preview your photos and when u press the zoom button to enlarge? If so default is minimal Zoom and it can be set as I had changed mine to 100% zoom. As for CF and SD allocation is pretty straightforward to be found in the camera settings. U don't need to read the manual. Just press the "Q" button to enter into the settings and select the memory card settings and play around with it should get u there.

I think that he meant viewing after the photo was taken. I have done the same thing as you with the 5D3... I've set the zoom feature to automatically go to 100%... really nice feature and great to check if you've adjusted settings appropriately enough to account for motion blur.

I've also used it when I take a still photograph with the camera on the tripod. I preview it in liveview with 100% zoom to ensure that focus is tack sharp.

Hi guys i need some help with 7Dii LCD Display, does it not support eye-proximity? or do i have to turn off LCD using INFO button when i'm shooting? It's causing a lot of distraction for me.

Think only rebel series has it. My 1st DSLR 450D has the function if I remember correctly. When I upgraded to 7D I was wondering why the LCD won't blank out when I look into viewfinder. Then I notice 450D has small sq sensor below viewfinder while 7D, 5d mk2/3 etc dun have it.
U can change LCD background to black and turn it dimmer, so less distracting.

Interesting... I wonder why Canon chose not to include this useful feature in their higher end models?

Nice! Yeah 7D2 is good for portraits too, so far I really enjoy shooting portraits with it.
People who think that 7D2 is only good for sports and wildlife, well I think they are missing out what else it can do.

Not a troll post so pls do not interpret it as such.

What do you not like about your 7D Mark II?

I feel that the features exceed its price tag so nothing much to complain about.

Loving my mkll, seriously the features at this price point is quite hard to beat,
Been waiting along time to get this

Did a short test on the 7DII anti-flicker mode, under the most nasty fluorescent lighting I could find. Think the sample of 9 photos below taken at high burst mode speaks for itself. Probably a life-saver for those shooting indoor sports under less than optimal lighting.

this is cool and looks pretty stable.
Any tries on higher shutter speed like 1/640sec and above?

Kindly redo the test in an amateur basketball court or other amateur venue. Amateur sports tend to have the worst of the worst lighting.
