Is it a Canon grip or 3rd party?

Canon battery grip...less than 2mths old only..scared the crap out of me when I was trying to take portraits.and it didn't take..thought my finger was broken or something..

Anyway I just sent both the grip b the camera back....the tried the grip on another 7d n it works..so it had to be the connections in the camera.....woohoo they broke my camera..Will be requesting a 1 to 1exchange

Bro the batts used in the grip? R those LP E6N?
I got a feeling all the problem r coming from the batt's, from the way I see, I trust canon in making lens & bodies more den making batt, they can come out with maybe 2-3bodies or 3-4lens every year but batt? The don't make much batt don't they? Lol

1 was the N..the other is just the normal 6 one.Anyway the grip shutter button had been fixed...loose wiring in the camera body....they are now monitoring the battery drain from the battery grip.the senior tech said the drain shouldn't be so serious cause of the auto power off even if the batt grip switch is on....

Oh my gosh... it's one thing after another... and the saga tinged with tragedy continues....

I dunno why :dunno: they don't just replace the disaster of a camera you have with one that works as advertised.

I emailed them to request a 1 to 1 exchange..about 2hrs later they called n said my camera is fixed....they totally forgot about the battery drain issue after they saw my 1 to 1 exchange..something fishy..

any updates??

Not really..Anyway my camera seems abit more stable now..they tweaked the voltage setting..the drain seems more consistent..but I haven't had the chance to go out for a full days testing n try to get as many shots as possible..I have only noticed my battery grips Batt reading is not the same for each slot..1 side may read 85..the other side may read 78..meh.....

Anyway one of Canons rep gave me her contact Incase I found a problem so I can meet up for a 1 to 1exchange but seems like a long process for a 1 to 1 especially fora new camera..

Personally, I would test the heck out of the camera... find something wrong and take up the offer of the 1 to 1 exchange. I may be wrong but voltage/electrical issues could lead to other things in the future. It's nothing to fool around with after spending a considerable amount of money for a product that has had nothing but faults from the beginning.

Gotta agree with it....quite tiring though.trying to test..atm I'm going to be testing battery drain just from the body..while it's on standby with a lens attached.....after that if nothing is wrong ill move onto battery drain with my battery grip..both slots with batteries also on standby..with battery grip turned onon..after that see how..

Eggie87 - ive been semi following your posts on this issue. Im very surprised that Canon is dragging its feet on this. Looks to be quite clear that something is wrong with your unit and yet they seem to be placing the burden of proof on you as the end user.

Guess they are too surprised n they can't believe something is wrong? Everytime I send it in n after letting them test.they still tell me they can't find anything wrong..even with the screen shots I showed if the timing n batt% n no of shots...I dunno whether I should just tell the Canon rep in tired of testing? Anyway with the amount of tinkering n replacing of parts my camera doesn't feel original anymore.lol...anyway in still monitoring the battery situation on the body..it seems fine 11hrs and 1% drain.....gonna proceed to test it with the grip

... 11 hrs of use only 1% drain... That's encouraging!

Yes test it with the grip and see how it goes.

I really hope this gets sorted out well and good for you. It is a really terrible feeling to get a lemon though I would say you have the patience of a saint.

Eggie87, I also admire your patience.. I hope there's a solution for you.

Even better if they provide 1 to 1 replacement. This will send positive message to Canon users (or potential buyers), because at least we know we invest in a brand who serve their customer properly :)

Used the entire day today to test the batteries in the grip today..just with the camera switch on first and then with both switches on..then only with the grip switch on(which was one of the problems originally..drained both batts dead.. 1 was 65% the other was 80%..within 7hrs..both were dead)..seems fine now....Guess they cleaned up the grip too..waiting to find another entire day to go burn my shutter count..see how many shots I can get this time..

New firmware updates coming in next week..woohoo

Can anyone here tell me what is the best price of 7D mk2 in town? Thank you very much.
