Okay la, i took a good close up of the mona lisa in the louvre. With the 6D no less

the reason I asking whether 6D is canon's iso champ because from what I read/know, 5D3 is better than 1D4 and 1DX in iso performance, but 6D is better than 5D3 in iso performance. So using this relation, 6D is the iso champ..

I am particularly keen in high iso performance esp those in the region of iso12800 and iso25600, which the 1D4 and 5D2 could not really meet my expectations, and unfortunately the nature of what I shoot doesn't really allow flash and frequently requires me to push the iso boundaries. as for 1DX it's 4 times the price of 6D, and double the weight.

it would be good if 6D is the best cam in canon camp now that can do it!

I saw a test somewhere, comparing 5D2, 5D3, 1D4 and 1DX.

1DX is still the champ in high ISO performance.

Unfortunately, no. For high ISO performance, 1DX is the king, followed CLOSELY by 6D, then 5D3. But the differences are slight. The 1DX is ~ 0.75 stop better than 5D3, with 6D sandwiched in between.

Thinking of trading 5dm3 for 6d just for the weight.

Thinking of trading 5dm3 for 6d just for the weight.

I sold my 5D3 last month. Got the 6D yesterday. Main considerations: size and weight. Loving it! The renowned photographer Fred Miranda has just replaced his 5D3 with 6D for landscape work due to improved shadow noise performance at low ISO. :)

Congratulations Doodah. Please give us your opinion of the differences between the two cameras besides the obvious size and weight deviation.

I think there are quite a few who have done that. Myself included.

All opinions are valid and valued. I would love to hear from you too and anyone else who has made the change. I personally own the 5D3 and honestly don't feel the need to make a switch for the time being. Still, I would like to hear the opinions of others.

I switched because the 6D is a better travel camera for me. Smaller n lighter. The 5D3 weight in itself was manageable but with the weight of lenses, accessories n tripod added up, it was too heavy for comfort. So every hundred grams shaved off here and there adds up.

Another 6D feature important to me is the ability to change focusing screens. I missed this very much when I upgraded from the mk2 to mk3. I have several manual lenses n the eg-S screen makes it easier to nail the focus.

The slower 6D FPS is ok for me most of the time. The 6D AF points also good enough most of the time. The wifi n GPS are just bonus features to me.

I swapped my 5d3 for a 6d about a month ago as well. Love the weight. Only thing I miss is the white balance button on the 5d3!

I like my 6d because of its wifi features. And multi exposure

It'll take me a while to form an opinion. :D

Center AF point is really very sensitive in low light. Still not used to the new button layout (different from both 5D3 and 60D, cameras I am accustomed to).

I do not know if AF with 50 f/1.4 will be consistent. Will test tomorrow. But AF with 24-105 f/4 lens is consistent and accurate. Do not know how reliable the peripheral AF points are.

i just jumped on the 6D bandwagon today... but i didn't sell my 5D3. i got the 6D as a back up cam. and i must say that the image quality is great. i used the 50mm f1.4 usm to test how the AF is... and it was decent, did hunt a bit, definitely not 5D3 fast, but acceptable especially in a low light condition. overall i'm satisfied with the results... my only concern is the inconsistent White Balance when I set it to AWB... one shot seems warm while the next shot taken concurrently seem a bit cooler. but not an issue, i shoot raw, and easily fixed.
