I am honestly shocked myself. Seems that LensRental (USA) has received 20-25 copies of the lens. Awaiting their test results which will be very revealing.

LensRentals results are out.

Looking good. Small size. Low weight. Little barrel distortion. Low CA. Wide-open performance is similar, if not better than that of 24-70 f/2.8 Mk2. Expensive. But OK since I plan to get it as a kit. Usual QC problem wrt decentered elements.

Tested the 6D at vivo showroom. They mounted the old 24-105mm L lens. I like the joystick at the back , but it's missing from 6D. Abit too light for me.

Skimmed through the review, the 2.8 ii still reigns supreme amongst the 3 lenses, even at wide open.

But the lens is darn small!

got difference, the new one is better when removing/capping on the lens with hood attached.

they announce nov last yr. said early 2013, so don't think implemented yet. They said it will be sold separately also.

PwP EF 17-40 F4 L USM @$1159
or simply buy Kit 1 and get the EF 24-105 F4 L USM (cost of lens is S$8++ if i simply take the price difference between Body only and Kit 1)

Currently I am using the EF 35 F1.4 L which will probably be the default lens on the camera most of the time (unless i need a wider or longer angle). I'm thinking KIt 1 for the longer reach but would like the wider 17mm on the PwP hence seeking the advice of everyone. Thanks.

Since you already said you like the wider end, then 17-40L? It's like asking for advise on what you should buy.. Just buy whatever you need. If you want the wider end, buying the Kit 1 will still result in you buying a UWA.

Why not get the 17-40 from B&S if you prefer the wider end? Most of the bros selling around $750.

Believe it or not, straight from the camera-Just converted to jpg and resized via lightroom.

This was the first photo that impressed me on the DR ability of 6D's sensor when I first started using the camera in Europe.
