Well, Canon is a milking company.........

24-70mm F4 might be out now......... and maybe, a few years later, they release a 24-106mm f4 II... I am sure there will be more people get milked by Canon.........

Yup, maybe in a few years but not in the foreseeable future.

Sharing my humble opinion as a new user after spending 3 days with EOS 6D as follow:

1. Excellent low light shooting and image quality.
2. Low noise at high ISO up to 12800...
3. Tend to over-exposed brighter areas when the contrast within the frame are high.
4. Average auto focus for quick action shots especially shooting kids running around.
5. When using Av (Aperture Priority) mode, the shutter speed tends to bias to lower shutter speed (resulted in higher ISO; when ISO set to Auto)
6. Shutter release half press to lock focus is soft (difficult to control "half press")
7. Focus points placing seem to be too far apart, shift focus is needed to focus objects "in between". On the other hand, it's good as it seems to cover greater focus areas within the frame.
8. Excellent phase focus accuracy (stationary object) even for objects that's tiny and next to each other.
9. intermittent wifi connection with iPhone. At times, iPhone apps cannot connect to 6D thus, cannot use its remote shutter, remote viewing functions. Requires a lot of patience to wait for both the iPhone and 6D to get connected, not suitable for photo shoots in a hurry.
10. Having difficulty with the GPS connection. Either unable to connect or it takes a very long time to get connected to GPS.
11. Excellent image details when focus is locked on.
12. Noticed the slight "dark corner" on the photo when taken with 17-40mm lens. Not sure its from this ultra wide lens or from the lens hood, did not investigate further.

There's many more observation to share and I hope to share when I find time...

14: Customization to replace depth-of-field preview button with "leveling gauge". Simple but helpful with just a press & release of the button.
15: Requiring the wifi to turn between Off and On to take video are rather troublesome.
16: Light weight is really friendly on the neck and should after carrying around for a full day.
17: Smaller camera size fit nicely with extra rooms in my existing vanguard up rise camera bag.
18: Auto Focus method during live view works well for "Quick mode" & "Live mode". During Quick mode, all 11 points work like the same AF method as the viewfinder shooting. However, it will be "black out" (interrupted momentarily) during AF.
19: Image playback on iPad work well through wifi without having to physically transfer file onto iPad is useful during shooting.
20: Switching between full auto focus points and single center focus point by pressing only one button (set button) is useful and convenient.
21: Did not find any prominent indication on lcd screen when auto focus is achieved when shooting video with live view. In addition, when subject is to near and unable to focus by a particular lens, it did not prompt user (not sure did I miss any settings). Only discover that the subject is not in focused when viewed under big screen on PC.
22: Silent mode can be easily switched by pressing/cycling through the "drive mode" . In my opinion, it's really silent, only slightly louder than the average mobile phone keypad pressing.

After AF, from live view is clear and sharp, but view finder is blur. Adjusted the knob beside view finder, cannot get a clear view. Picture is sharp. Any one has similar problem?

The metal holding the frosted glass is loose and drop off. Do not know what cause it loose. Push it back to latch position, the problem resolved.

Yes. The metal frame holding it was loose and drop off, which causes the view finder blur. Strange. It was the 2nd day after i got the camera. Only did some lens calibration in live view.

Any 3rd party battery works for Canon 6D and original charger? Heard the battery has a embedded micro-chip.

any third party bat that works with the 5D3 5D3 60D 7D will all work with the 6D hehe....quite common nowadays.

The 3rd party batt sold at cathay doesn't work. I'm going back to exchange it today actually.

dont buy 3d party battery unless tested on 6d. read on other forums that some batteries doesnt work with 6D yet.

Alan Photo mentioned the 3rd party battery for 6D is no ready yet. But, saw some US sites sell battery claiming work on 6D. ~USD17.

After lens calibration (micro adjustment), the picture from 6D is much much sharper than my 40D. But needs to manually record down the 'offsets' for each lens one by one for future use. if there is a software can retrieve and back up the camera settings, that will be good.

After reset all the camera settings and customer settings, the lens micro-adjustment as well as WIFI setting info are still there. That is good.

Picture noise at ISO 1600 is really low.

It is still a mystery why the metal frame holding Interchangeable focusing screen drops.

Doesn't affect me since I never use 3rd party batteries. Don't trust them.

Looks like Thom Hogan's observations (19-dec-2012) about Canikon are becoming more real:

"The thing that saddens me is that I see evidence that the camera companies are getting less customer friendly. It's not just Nikon, though they certainly have been on a tear recently with policies and non-policies that impact customer service. I hear it about other camera companies too, as they tighten their budgets and try to drive costs out."

Someone needs to crack the Canon battery code now... :bsmilie:

Unless you use multiple copies of the same lens, the camera should be able to remember the setting for each attached lens, no?

What i meant was if using the lens on other body, recording down the offsets might help in calibration or even skip the calibration on the other camera body.

the adjustment offsets are specific to the lens and the camera body and will be useless if you change to another lens or another body even they are the same model

no. some shops offer $25xx
