OFFICIAL: CANON EOS 650D User Thread

i using sigma 18-250mm lense , just bought it for 1 week plus only and i realise the lense slides down quite easily when im facing the camera downwards .. is it normal to be like this???

It's a common problem for consumer zoom lenses.

First time using a 28-300L, forgot about tightening the tension. The barrel also smacked down.

Hello,

I bought a Eso 650D Kit II for $1235 at Ms colour (amk Blk 771);wonder if it was a good deal?, I got the standard 8G and canon bag freebie.

I checked Cathay Photo, they had kit II at $1232 and it was sold out, John 3:16 sold for $1410 (pricey) but he hang up before I could ask abt freebies., Alan photo offered $1230 ( I was lazy to travel there for a $5 difference).

Anyone can recommend a me a place to buy a good daybag for my dslr, laptop 15" and water bottle (1 litter).? I found some good ones but not sure where I can buy them other than online. The shops I checked so far, have room only for dslr and 13" laptop..

After you have bought the item, best not to compare prices anymore... since nothing can be done even if the price you paid for is more expensive.... as knowing somewhere is cheaper may only more or less serve to piss yourself off....

For bags, are you looking for shoulder bags or backpack? how many lens will you be bringing? *Do plan for future upgrades ... as not many people I know will stick with their kit lens for very long.. they were poisoned somewhere down the road and got more and more lenses..*

Hmm 2 lens (one already attached to the dslr), Nah I wouldn't be upgrading soon. I normally bring one Zoom lens and another fixed lens (50mm 1.8).

shoulder bags are preferred

I think you can look at ThinkTank CityWalker 30. It should be able to handle 15" laptop easily (I don't own a laptop, so I can't comment if it will actually fit, there is space for it, but not officially a laptop compartment thou)... You need to try it out at the shop.

I've loaded mine with
- 70-200 f2.8 (hood reversed),
- 50mm f1.8
- 17-40 attached to my 5D
- umbrella
- ~800ml of water
- 1 flash unit.

Space allocation is fine, but you may get a shoulder ache the following day.

* 70-200 will take up 1 compartment already
* 50mm will be in the center compartment with the attached lens and body
* waterbottle and umbrella squeezed into the 3rd compartment
* flash (YN560) slot at the side in the bag (not outside)

Still have loads of space for accessories for filters, flash gels, misc stuffs in the front compartment and 2 side external compartment.

*oh, and you may upgrade before you know it...... Maybe just not yet. Before I know it, I have 4 lenses after my 1st year :( *

Hi guys,

I'm new here. Just snapped up a 650D kit I from MS Color AMK Hub on Wednesday. Contemplating between 700D & 100D. But decided on 650D, and never looked back!

Which is the next lens purchase you guys would recommend?

Thanks :)

My take: if you don't find lacking in anything, don't buy anything yet..

Don't buy for the sake of buying, a sturdy tripod or a flash is more versatile for first your purchase.

Just got my 650d this evening. My first DSLR as well. Have yet to go snapping away.

When I do, hope to learn from the experienced photogs here...

I've learned a lot from on-line forums such as ClubSnap. Congrats on your new DSLR.

Thanks raydio and lone ranger! First shoot yesterday and don't regret switching to dslr. But lots to learn, even on the kit lens alone.

Learning is all part of the fun! ;)

EOS 650D was my first proper DSLR but I recently sold it off as I moving up to 5D soon.
DSLR have many things to learn, basically first thing you would want to do is shoot regularly.
Got a hang on the weight, control, composition and etc. when using DSLR.

Later you might want to explore advance control like aperture, shutter, ISO, WB and etc:
Here's a useful tutorial for beginners on aperture, shutter, ISO, WB and etc.

After you know what you normally shoot or love to shoot than you consider what lens you want to buy.

Welcome to the DSLR world.
DSLR will bring more fun to your photography journey. Nothing beats going all out and shoot to get more understanding on your DSLR. Try to stay away from CS if possible, because it can be very poisonous at times..lol..but it does have many useful information too.. Enjoy shooting :)
