I do have the budget for the kit 2, but i got the kit 1 with 50mm f1.4 to play with dof.
Got it for 449 which i feel is worth it. The f1.4 is awesome. Nice creamy bokeh.
Im playing ard with the 18-55 first before upgrading.
You got a very good deal for your 50mm f1.4 at $449 if you are talking about brand new.
which place is that? wish i bought later.. bought mid oct with no tripod and no pwp 50mm 1.4![]()
i never get a tripod, no need as yet as saving up for a better one.
when i first go, they never say got 50 f1.4 on pwp. i ask them.
shop went is alan photo
Despite some negative feedback on Alan Photo, this is a positive experience that you had from them. Alan Photo could have sold you the 50mm f1.4 at non PwP price but they didn't do that.
By the way, there are a few lenses / accessories that are under the PwP scheme by Canon. However, the items differ month on month. Therefore, the safest act is to go to Canon website to see the current PwP so that you won't be ripped off by paying normal price for PwP products. Do note that many retailers have old inventories for PwP items, so even if the current PwP schem does not include them, you can still ask the shop whether they can sell you at the PwP price.
I am listing a list of PwP items since day one by Canon (please add on)
*The list is not exhaustive
1) BG-E7
2) 270EX II
3) 320EX - $180
4) EF-S 10-22mm f3.5-4.5 USM - $1008 if i remember correctly.
5) EF 16-35mm f2.8L USM II
6) EF 17-40mm f4L USM
7) EF-S 17-55mm f2.8 IS USM
8) EF-S 55-250mm f4-5.6 IS

It is a simple decision on if you need the range of 55-135mm. If you have the budget, get the kit II then. It is a difference of a few hundred bucks for a modest upgrade in reach. Nothing terribly good or bad. Both lenses are stellar nor horrible. Just your average start-up lens.
All I can say the extra reach is wonderful, but you can use your legs to match the 80mm difference most of the time.mwkong said:Thanks for your reply.![]()

is there a significant improvement from the 50mm f1.8 which almost everyone recommend to get?

Tried on my friend's 18-135, non STM.
