Thanks for all the replies!

So can I put an estimation of the noise of 60D @ISO6400 to b comparable to 450D @ISO1600? So an image taken with 450D theoretically shld be able to be taken with 60D with a 4 times faster shutter speed lor?

I'm not considering the 17-40L at this pt at I've already got a 17-50 2.8.. Of course with the understanding tat L lenses are of a different class altogether.. =) I'm more looking for more reach with a constant and relatively low F..

I'm using 60D with 24-105. Very good for walkabout. With one small problem. 24 is too tight for crop body.
If you like to take scenery , can always put your 17-50 on it.
That what I usually use my 17-55 for that.

Eh, i wouldn't go as far at ISO6400..that's quite unusable..i would say ISO3200 is more comparable to ISO1600 on the 450D :) Even at 3200 on the 60D, picture come out pretty decent. Believe it or not, the 24-105 though it's an L, it's barely an L…as compared to many other Ls, this one is not as sharp but still better than many other lenses, just dun expect it to be like the 24-70 :)
ANyways, here's an example of the 60D with the 24-105 at ISO3200 in case you were wondering on it's performance at that level.

Hey thanks!

Hmm so it's only a stop better.. So an F4 on 60D(iso3200) will b comparable to F2.8 on 450D(iso1600).. That's quite decent!

Yea read some reviews on the lens being on the lower spectrum of the L series.. How do u like it then? And sharp compared to tamron 17-50 or 50 1.8?

Hey hey! Just had mine on Friday!(Previously using 500D) Won a 600D through a Canon photography competition, and decided to trade in for 60D kit 3, and so I took a few shots today and here are the photos, was only taking using the KIT LENS (18 - 200) as to see how far I can stretch myself via limitation...

Hand so itchy already..

I heard before that comex not necessary very cheap.
Some even more expensive so must research alot alot alot.
I bought mine at CP - Pennisular as recommended by a friend.
So far, they are good cause never really 'chop' me or sell me cmi things.
Cause i got kenna 'chop' before at other shop.

Although comex might not be cheaper, sometimes retailers can match free gift during the show period at a lower price. So might be worth it to wait for the show period and buy from retailers.

Last show, they gave away free battery on top of the standard freebies. The org LP-E6 is retailing at 110+ in shops... worth it man! Esp if it's ya first system, it got quite a bit of "essential" stuff to last u for awhile.

18-200mm most of the time. Been using the sigma 30mm f1.4 quite a lot recently.

Tamron 17-50 f2.8 is a gd lens! Maybe u should try it first. If u can live with the focus motor sound....

today lending 60d from friend keke..
