Do you even know what a patent is? Canon has patents for a large number of lens designs but how many of them actually make it to the production stage?

u have any idea how much a patent would cost just to cover the major countries? Any decision made would have the entire operation work flow thought out n planned. Whether the product gets to the market is a different story. Production line is easily changed for different products if u see the point that generically speaking all lens are made in the same way.. but than again... I'm guessing u thought otherwise

Just brought 5D Mark III from TK and also the Canon 24-70 f/2.8 II. Body: 3975 Lens: 2600. Cash only.

At first, thought of getting this combo but in the end I get the kit 1 instead.
So far the EF 24-105mm is serving me well and 5D Mark III ISO performance is awesome.

Need some advice ..... I tot of getting a 50mm to for 5DM3 I tot of getting the 50mm F1.8 , will it like mis-match ? or should I go for 1.4? 1.2 is out of budget....

sigma 1.4 would probably be a better choice within your budget.

I think you have answered your own question. Or else how abt sigma's 1.4? 1.8 will look like a mismatch on paper, but if u have everything else right (composition. Exposure etc) anything is good!

I agree with the others... Sigma 50mm f/1.4 would be a good choice.

It is generally accepted that the Sigma model is better than the Canon by both reviewers and users.

Sigma has taken the unprecedented step of charging MORE for their lens than the Canon equivalent. There is no other 3rd party lens (that I know of) which has successfully competed against the original manufacturers lens at a HIGHER price. This could only be accomplished with a superior product and its acceptance by the consuming/buying public.

Welcome back to the club Ricleo! Other than because the Canon 5D3 is a fantastic, joyful and fully satisfying camera to use, why did you divorce your 1DX and remarry your 5D3?

hehe... heavy weight, and didn't really need the faster FPS... found myself turning to the 6D more often than the 1DX, hence decided to go back down to the 5D3 more than enough camera for me

LOL... so let me get this right... you were married to the 1DX and at the same time having a torrid love affair with the 60D. With the 1DX you found her to be a little chubby and decided to go back to your first love, the less than heavy 5D3. Hmmm... what will you do if the 5D3 gets impregnated with a battery grip? Will the 60D be the sole source of your affections? LOL!

Haha that just sounds so wrong and it was the 6d not 60d although my wife does own a 60d hehehhe. Crop sensors somehow doesn't cut it for me anymore in terms of IQ.

On a serious note, 120-300 works just as well on the 1dx and the 5d3. In low light circumstances, it works even better on the 6D due to the -3ev focusing capabilities.
