Very good question. I personally bring two or three 32 gb cards. I usually have a storage device to download or store photos. I hesitate to bring anything larger than 32 gb for fear of losing the card or having technical problems with it.

My greatest fear would be to bring a 128 gb card and shoot for two or three days recording thousands of photos and then have the card lost or stolen.
 

I have absolute confident in Lexar. Have been using it for years. Going forward, I think I need to have a habit to re-format the card in Cam each time I do a backup instead of just delete off.

Take note: I suspect it could also due to me plugging it into my Smart TV for direct media viewing, then "not probably disconnected" before I pull it out.
 

I just load 2 high speed 32GB cards into the dual card slot and just keep shooting. I have never run out of space on leisure trips.

I like to pack light and do not wish to be encumbered by multiple memory cards, input or backup devices. Since the rise of smart phones and tablets, I have stopped bringing my laptop too.

Work, on the other hand, would be the exact opposite. I bring everything, except maybe the kitchen sink.

Why??

I have been using the Tamron 24-70 VC since the day I bought it (last Dec). Satis with it so far.
VC work well too for me when needed.

I think the Tamron is a good alternative. It is priced very attractively, the VC works effectively, and the lens optically competent.

I just rented the Tamron 24-70 last week and tested it with my 5D3 by taking some shots of the Esplanade. I found it responsive, sharp and the VC really helped. I'm not sure why a Tamron 24-70 would not be recommended for the 5D3. I found its performance more than acceptable. I would be curious to hear other views.

Yap bro, try to reformat, dont delete.... deleting will sometime corrupt your CF/SD Card..... being practising the format of card.... so far, never have once any issue with the CF/SD card.....

At first for me, I rented the 5D mk iii for company event to see how comfortable
I am with this DSLR. After the successful event, I decided to buy the 5D mk iii.
Bro, if you got the $ than just go for it.
No regrets seriously or you worry that 5D mk iv will come out but that will happen
years later. :bsmilie:

That's why I thought of too, currently I have Sandisk extreme pro 32GB CF card and extreme pro 32GB SD card in my mkiii.
Maybe I will just bring another 64GB for both cards will do.
128GB for the CF is way too expensive for me, I could get a lens for the CF card price. LOL!

Hehe.. I was referring to the Tamron! I'd own a 5D3

Care to share the reason for the need to get such a fast card?
 

As I know, the built in SD writer ain't optimised. Only the CF is & the main purpose of having the SD slot works as a backup. No point using fast SD as I'll make no difference in terms of writing speed!

Not only as backup card for 5dmk iii but also other cameras that I might used time to time.
Fast card allows me to capture shots much faster than standard cards.
