Yes, my Nissin DI866 MarkII doesn't work with my 5D3 and 1DX..i mean the ETTL is not functioning, if using trigger such as Pixel it become worst. You can get YongNuo YN568EX, is cheap and good You can high syn to 1/8000 even with Pixel trigger.

Thank for the info. Did consider to get the YN568EX as a spare flash as it cheap. eTTL work on 5D3?

On another note, Lens Rentals decided to put AF consistency of various Canon cameras to the test using a recently released 28 f/2.8 IS lens in single shot mode. This is what they obtained for the standard deviation of AF accuracy, a measure of AF consistency:

1DsIII 29
5D II 38.5
50D 34
7D 41
1DIV 22
60D 34
T3i 41
1Dx 17
5D III 17
T4i 29
6D 28

We can group Canon DSLR AF consistency into 3 groups:
Tier 1: 1DX, 5D3 (as good as live view when the latest lenses are mounted)... 1D4 trailing slightly
Tier 2: 6D, 1Ds3, T4i... 50D, 60D trailing slightly
Tier 3: 5D2, 7D, T3i

So, 6D is about as good as the 1Ds3, but not as good as 1DX and 5D3.

PS: Do not be shocked by the poor AF consistency of the 7D in single shot mode because that agrees with my personal experience too.

Well, but didn't they measure it with multiple AF points? If that's the case the test is pretty useless because it depends on the scene heavily I guess.

Huh? Do you know what you are asking? Even a simple test for AF consistency of the centre point requires multiple shots using the same lens. Then, one needs to analyze all the shots. Can you imagine trying do that with so many remaining AF points?

Do you also realize in-camera AF calibration only fixes the center point and not the rest? For AF calibration of remaining points on sensor, one needs to send camera to CSC. Even then, they'll ask you which points are most important and how you want them calibration (focusing distance, lens etc etc).

In short, testing AF consistency is a very complex business. Do not forget the performance of a lens may differ from camera body to body. Lensrental is able to do it because they have access to many many cameras and lenses. One can infer quite a bit even from the simple test above. For example, if the center point is hopeless, the remaining AF points are not going to be any better.

I guess very few people want to acknowledge the 7D is really hopeless in terms of single shot AF consistency. And I mean really useless. My old 60D beats the c**p out of it. I know because I used to own both cameras.

since you already have the 1DX, it will be natural for you to look out for a low cost + lightweight FF to complement your primary body and that budget FF is the 6D.

of cause' if one has the money, he/she can go for the 5DMK3 as a secondary body too.

on the other hand, there will be those people(me inclusive) who can only afford a single FF body and this body must perform to certain expectations.

Very true. Especially for single body shooters, the 2nd media slot is so very important that I don't understand why people are not concerned about it. Perhaps they are just shooting for leisure.

I think they test with single point is much more accurate than with all the points.. Obviously if 61 af points vs 39 af points, u know who the Winner.. Correct my if I'm wrong

The grouping of the af points is very important too..i can have 100af squashed in the center n it would be stupid.
