Hah... I just tried with my laptop and it opened!!!! Go figure!

Do you guys increase sharpness on your picture style settings?

Or you just shoot with the default picture style settings and use PP to sharpen?

I shoot only raw with everything except OM-D.

If you are shooting in RAW format it does not matter. I just put it in neutral setting.

I see. Yeah agree shoot RAW is the best. Can do all the adjustment later on.

By the way I find that 5D MK3's JPEG is quite impressive. Maybe previously was using a APSC system.

I shoot RAW and Jpeg but RAW offers far more flexibility in post processing.

Jus checking do u all find that sometime it seem like there a lag in the focusing after half press the shutter button?
Sometime it seem no respond only after while then it start to respond n hunt, especially in low light area.

Isn't that common in low light?

I have found the focusing to be very responsive. However in low light, responsiveness will vary with the type of lens used. The bigger the aperture the more responsive the lens will be. In little to no light no matter which lens is used, the focusing system will lag and hunt.

Use less focus points.

Use less focus points.

I mostly select to only center focus point. Normally in low light, it will keep hunting for some camera. Just feel that for 5Dmk3, sometime there are no respond or only after a lag, then it start to hunt after the shutter button is press. Not that responsive sometime.
Maybe due to the lens (using 24-105) or have to much expectation compare to 7D focusing.

Hmmm..... the 5D3 focus system is superior to the 7D. In fact, it is the same focus system that the 1DX uses. If you feel that you are getting less responsiveness than a 7D, perhaps you should take your 5D3 to CSC to have it checked out.

I owned both 5D MK3 and 7D.

I done a simple test using both my 5D MK3 & 7D using a 24-105mm F4L with single AF point.
I tried focus at a dark area auto ISO was at ISO 6400. Aperture was F4. On a subject which is a black shirt with a few fine white lines.

Result:

7D totally cannot focus on the white lines on the black shirt. It kept hunting continuously a few times but still couldn't focus lock on the subject.

5D Mark 3 I focused exactly the same spot on the white lines of the black shirt. To my surprised it locks on focus less than a second. It only lags a few milliseconds compared to normal bright condition focusing.

So I suspect maybe your 5D MK3 focusing system must be something wrong. Tried send in CSC to check it out. Cheers! :)

exactly my sentiments

Anyone tried sigma 50mm f1.4 lens on 5dm3... Any focusing issue ?

I'm looking between canon or sigma...

I've got the Sigma 50 f/1.4 on my 5D3 as my standard/walk around lens. Works great, I love it. Focus is super fast, no signs of hesitation, bokeh is great, sharpness is great and focus is great as well.

Taken by using 5D3 + Sigma 50 f/1.4

Sigma 50mm f/1.4 + Sigma 85mm f/1.4, cheaper option with no regret. It's a shame that Sigma didn't make a 35mm f/1.4!

Sigma all the way. There's a good reason why some call it Sigmalux. Even if you have an issue with the auto-focus, you have the AFMA tool in the body. It's worth the hassle.
