installment?
I paid all one shot since I had the money ready
installment?
They sell. Some shops keep in their storeroom, a few pieces only, for customer who ask for it. Some will order from Canon for customers who asked for it too.
They generally do not carry them in store or carry in large quatities, but if you are keen to buy from them due to certain reasons, they can make the arrangement for you.
yes...i am tempted to get from those big stall for their in-house extended warranty.
Anyone tried claiming warranty from them before?
I would rather pay more for manufacturer's warranty, which means buy from Canon.![]()
manufacturer only cover 1st year mah...but in-house warranty can covers up to 5 years?
not sure if the coverage include wear & tear...eg. shutter & flash hot shoe
product and warranty is linked to their database which has your particulars. so in a way is tied to person. But they don't really care as they will not ask you for IC when you send your product in for servicing. new owner just have to remember to update his/her HP number when sending in product for servicing, been there done that. it probably gets a bit complicated if old and new owner is of different gender.wa..if i want to sell my canon 5d mark III now, can the warranty be transferred? and is it being tie to the person or the product itself? tks!

You can buy Canon's own extended warranty when you register online![]()
oh...thanks for the update, long time never buy Canon products cos the last camera that i bought new was an EOS 10D back in 2003...managed to find the extended warranty cost here
anyway, service charge and parts at Canon is very reasonable, I changed the main PCB of my previous 1D for few hundreds only, cheaper than buying extended warranty.
For my current 1DsMKII, I only changed the hot-shoe due to wear & tear, otherwise this 7 years old work-horse never fail me so far
think I will give the extended warranty a miss as I have faith with Canon products since the D30 days. At first I thought it can cover wear & tear like hot-shot and shutter![]()

This is not a new issue. I had the same issue with my 5d2 (more severe) and made a few visits to CSC to repair. However the rectifications lasted for a couple of weeks only and the same issue came again. IMO this could be due to the design/manufacturing faults with certain batches. I really appreciate the good service support by CSC for which they did not charge. I do see the issue in 5D3 but not to that extend and it is meagre. Initially this was very much annoying with 5d2, but over a period of time I learnt to live with it. You may approach CSC and they may add a kind of padding to tackle the creaking noise.
