do you mean the light leaking issue affected certain batch of 5dm3 and not all?

Hi,
I just got my 5DIII, very satisfied. For those got lots of complained and not happy, SELL and get HASSELBLAD
You only paying $4K plus can get such a GOOD performance, if not you apply for SUPER ENGINEER in CANON JAPAN.
We must give them more times to improve the CMOS. Luckily CANON do their own CMOS.

Did anyone notice that you need to insert a battery into the camera if not the viewfinder will be very dim. I was testing my CPL thaen WTH my viewfinder so grey one.

Hi fellow bros/sis of the 5D mkiii...
am looking for a zoomy for my camera... and has an eye set on the canon 70-300 L....
any users of the above lens to comment?? and how is gonna perform for events like Formula 1 (isolation of fencing)??

is the 1k +++ premium worth it over the Tamron equal???

Thanks!

Yep. I experienced it too. Nothing unusual though. Probably the battery supplies power to brighten up the viewfinder.

It's normal for transmissive LCD in viewfinder... the LCD overlay needs to be powered up.

wow, paying only $4k. you must be very rich!. would love to see your photo contribution.

Loving the 5D Mark III to bits.

Been learning so much about the camera...there are a few out-of-manual resources which are also very useful to learn and master the new AF system. One of them is the "1DX AF Setting Guidebook"...although it is geared towards the 1DX, since the 5DIII shares pretty much the same AF system, 90% of the material inside is applicable to it too.

Hope it will be useful for the other 5DIII owners as well.

Yes,$4k for this kind of specs and performance would say is value for money.
Nothing much to complain about.

To Users of the Canon EOS 5D Mark III Digital SLR Camera (Change of Displayed Exposure Value in LCD Panel)

Thank you for using Canon products.

Concerning the EOS 5D Mark III digital SLR camera, when the LCD panel illuminates in extremely dark environments, the displayed exposure value may change. Canon has decided on our service policy to address this phenomenon, so we would like to inform you of the details as described below.

Phenomenon
In extreme dark environments* when the LCD panel illuminates, the displayed exposure value may change. However, when shooting with a lens attached, this change in exposure value may not significantly affect the shooting results.

* Some examples of a dark environment are as follows:
1. When the body cap is attached
2. When the lens cap is attached

Affected Product
Canon EOS 5D Mark III Digital SLR camera

* Products whose sixth digit in the serial number is 1 or 2 are affected. For example, "xxxxx1xxxxxx" or "xxxxx2xxxxxx" ([x] represents either of the optional number.)

Support
When shooting with a lens attached, this phenomenon might not significantly affect the shooting results. However service will be provided to customers upon request from May 17 to address this issue. Please contact your nearest service center if you have any queries.

Not sure why you must buy body n 24-70 mk2 together? Is that going to be yr only lens?

The mk2 will not be the only lens, but i will definitely be getting 24-70. So if mk2 coming out soon, i will wait out. No point getting mk1 now, even if second hand, only to upgrade to mk2 a few weeks later right?

Addendum: i prob understood the intent of ur question after reading it again. The 24-70 range will be my most used lens, based on past experience. So yes, the body will come with the 24-70 range.

What I mean is if you have other lenses, you can get the body first n shoot first. Then get the 24-70 mk2 when it's out.

Definitely worth the money. I am with u on this. At first I felt pain paying 5k++, I bought the kit FYI. But once I started using it. I forgot the pain totally and felt its worth every cent that I paid for it.

Yes but people who are aiming a 24-70 will most likely aim for the one with the best built no? Tamrons aren't known for build quality because they're not as expensive.
And you won't have the CA lens correction available natively in the camera if you use a non-Canon lens…IF this is a feature you want of course.
I don't know..i've always found the 24-70 as a "high end" model and people that want to buy it won't care about the price..people who do care about price will get the 24-105 instead :) that's just how i see it

They didn't say fix..they said inspect only but they also said this problem doesn't affect the picture output...so end of story

I was 'polite'. What I really mean to say is: Canon will examine the camera, knock your head against the floor and tell you to get your head examined. :bsmilie:
