Ehh... That's quite a funny observation cos most of the owners here reported a marked improvement over the 5D2 especially the AF and you are the only one who reported otherwise. Those who own F1.2/1.4 lenses also reported a marked improvement in their shts in focus compared to the 5D2 also. :think: Mayhaps you gotten a lemon set?

There is a drastic improvement using wide-aperture primes.

If you’re just comparing 5D2 centre AF point to the cross points on the 5D3 you might not see a lot of difference, but if the comparison is Outer-AF points, then having a cross points on the outer AF makes a WORLD of difference.
1. Speed of focusing
2. Accuracy of focusing
3. No longer need to focus and recompose that much.

I’ve always felt on the 5D2 I’ve had an effectively 1 AF point system. Now i have an effectively 41 AF point system. Tell me that isn’t a world of difference in real-life shooting.

*I use only the 41 Cross points on the 5D3

The 5D3 does not have significant AF improvement either. With that price, rather stay with 5D2 or wait for 1Dx.

I agree with you, witnessed a string of crossfire of 5d3 capabilities and dxomarks. Not tired meh? There's no end to it, the next we will see is an OMD vs 5d3 comparison, or even Instagram vs 5d3. All I knew is I am a happy 5d3 owner!

as a reward to myself, likely going to get myself a 5d3. can anyone clue me in as to a good place to get this camera for a good price? (sorry for not reading part 1 and 2 of this thread.. price guide not updated either)

You can start with SLRR or TK foto at Funan. Price is abt $41xx to 4250. Not sure if you are aware of the light leak issue. Might want to read up on it to see if it's something you'd be concerned abt, before buying it. Just do a search in CS or google it.
