agreed. It's like Av + Tv mode combined :D

set the shutter speed and aperture you want, let the auto-ISO handle it. It's more than enough for most situation and also because the cam has very usable high ISOs.

but auto ISO still can't do exposure compensation. :(

Cannot meh?
In Av/Tv mode can right? Maybe not in M mode..
The whole point of M mode is to adjust the Av and Tv yourself to get the correct exposure mah…no need to do exposure compensation..that's just too many adjustment for one shot :)

it is the same as SG.. the buyer who buys it must be damn desperate. :bsmilie:

Stock is readily available in Sg, not sure why someone will go with a grey set unless it is ALOT cheaper.

cannot.. i think none of Canon DSLR can do it.. any 1D owners can confirm?

M mode with manual aperture and shutter speed, together with auto ISO. sometimes i like to compensate 1/3 or 2/3 stop but only can do so in semi-auto modes, not in M mode. :(

There are no auto ISO on any 1D body. Not sure about 1DX though. Put auto ISO aside, in Manual mode both front and rear dials are set to control aperture and shutter speed... how to compensate exposure without a 3rd dial?

In manual mode, you control the shutter (as well as the aperture). The exposure compensation will be controlled via the shutter le ma.

E.g. If the camera thinks the exposure is right... make the shutter faster to reduce the exposure compensation.

Cannot...you do that and the ISO will change...

if the function is available, i'm sure one of the button will be dedicated to EC. but it isn't the case now.

ya, you say liao, THE CAMERA thinks the exposure is right.

but more than often, people do compensate to get their desired effect.

anyway with auto ISO, everything will be on 0EV, however you adjust the aperture and shutter speed.

of cause you can adjust the settings to force the overexposure, ie bright daylight, f2.8 + 1/500s. even with auto ISO(with 100 selected), 1/500s will result in overexposure. so you tweak from there to achieve the amount of compensation you want. but it will be very tedious, as you need to customises the setting to different conditions. and it is not always you can get the auto ISO to 100, to force the compensation(overexposure in this case).

i know it sounds confusing, but sometimes i do just that to overcome this shortcoming.

huh? I use M mode, set shutter and aperture and auto ISO on 1D4

did I miss out something?

Yes there's auto ISO in 1D4. A mistake by a post up there...

base on the 1D4,there is a way to do it actually.
u can set the max ISO speed on the camera.
example u set it at max ISO 800 and use Auto ISO.
the camera correct exposure is F2.8,1/160s ISO 800.
then if u want your exposure to be darker, you can adjust the aperture or shutter speed higher and the ISO remains at 800.
