I heard the 3rd party one will be released on end of may..
But if the price gap isn't that big, i'll go for the original Canon one..

Considering to get one too. Anyway what other benefits does the battery grip has other than have better grip?
Wondering if i should get the Nissin Di866.
Wow how i'd wish i've the money to go as well! :sweatsm:

Hmm... there is a shutter buttion.. at the side too.. where u can have better grip when taking portrait shots ?
I heard the 3rd party around $110, Phottix is the brand. I saw in the internet original one is $250
@auden09
bro, i noticed your wts post. you're selling your 550d?
Anyone got the original Battery Grip for our 550D, is the fitting good ?? Thinking of getting one for travelling use and also to add on the weight. Went to enquiry and it's $199 Cash payment , anyone here can share where to get it cheaper ?
ahhaa... i SMS him already... he changed his mind liaoz... =p
thats a good price bro. got mine ard that price too. feels good and not complaining...
Haha you 2 friends? Great!
actually we hv not met yet but will be nice if we could all one day meet ya. =p
Can share where to get it at this price?
Oh ic, then that really depends on what you're gonna take eventually.
Yeah i agree..
Get the GSS protector from monstercamera! Awesome! Fits good and nice on 550D
Aw, which model anyway?
Since you know it's on impulse, then dun get too rush...use for a longer period of time before you decide?
The more 550D bros the better!! :bsmilie:
But nevertheless, still hope you can find your most suited system..
Good luck!

yeah, better if you get the GGS protector from mymonstercamera, if they still have stock
that's sad to hear. would be helpful if you share your issues with the control? so far the only control issue i encounter is thumb-pressing between the Q and Av buttons while peeping through the viewfinder. but that can take a getting used to...
ic.. which part you feel hard to use? The external control or the design of the 'firmware'?
...and if you have a big/heavy lens it will be outbalanced. yeah, better get a battery gripI just bought Nissin Di622 flash, the 1st impression was,, this camera is too small for my hand.. going to buy a battery grip.
it feels uncomfortable with flash
Like in the 7D bg, I also store the cap inside the grip itself. So no problem of losing it, if that's what you're saying.Bro, also, do u have problems removing the battery cap ? and do you store the battery cap into the grip too like the 7D battery grip as my neighbour has it too.
Hehe yeah, I had to remove my plastic screen protector also to make way for the GGS. Fortunately I am just using the el cheapo one from eBay $1+shipping :lovegrin:I just saw the GGS, looks solid! But from the way the GGS is applied, it means I have to remove my current screen protector first? Like that my 2 week old screen protector wasted leh. Blame it on my ignorance. Didn't know glass screen protectors exist. :embrass:
The D90 was my first choice too had not the 550D was announced! So I just waited for the 550D since it had much anticipation from the previews back then :cheers:well i have problems with pressing the Av button. lol! sometimes miss shots trying to find the button! horrible. but the system is smart. took it to a function just now, and boy its darn smart. photos came out great! my friend on the nikon d90 was complaining about his color reproduction (abit too yellowish and lots of noise). ok i wanted to defect to the nikon d90 cuz you know nikon make very nice to use cameras (but not very smart cams). after the event, i think im sticking to canon for now. see whats the replacement for d90 gonna be like first. lol! but for all you 550D bros out there, the 550D is a competent performer. smart camera with great color reproduction. compared to the 50D, the IQ is better, colors nicer. yup. this are based on my personal observations. i'm not a pro so dun take my word for it. cheers to all!
When are you going? The peak period for the sakura bloom is almost over. not to say there isn't any left.

Like most people say, take both! I think 18-55mm is abit limiting, and 75-300 too long if you want to shoot indoors, lets say, your hotel room?
Just realised i should post my pictures here too haha! just incase of auto-focus/back focus issues or sharpness and my eyes can't catch. Then sad le :sweatsm:
when r u going kat-kat?
i'm going on 12th may too! hokkaido and tokyo.
i got a question, how come 550d iso up to 6400 but not higher? i read outside got higher..
i m leaving for hokkaido on the 15 May ...... Sakura wait for meeeee~~~~~ :bsmilie:
