check with you guys, only when you use manual focus then you can turn the focus ring? i heard when using auto focus, if you turn the focus ring, it will spoil the lens..

is it true?

yup. try not to do that. its just another flick of the button that would prevent u from damaging ur lens?

Taken at iso 100... exif info still intact.

1. the original photo (jpg), I just resize only.

2. this is the background 100% crop, save to jpg quality 12.

How to reduce the pixelation/noise in the darker area?

hi, anyone here owns the efs 18-135? care to share some thoughts? i am getting this lens this comin' saturday but according to reviews...its a bad lens.

I bought the 550D Kit II with the EF-S 18-135 IS a month ago. I'm very happy with it. It's my 1st dSLR. I have no experience with other lenses; but the pictures taken so far are nice and the 1080p videos came out well. The instruction manual gives this caution about the possible damage when selected to AF position. In the first day before reading the manual, I thought the "stiffness" was due to a fault; fortunately I didn't force rotate it further. Now I leave the selection to MF so that the outer focusing ring is free to rotate until I need to use it in AF. Rgds

hi all, i wan to get my 1st DSLR soon but i don't know isit a gd deal to get 550D body at $1120 + EF-S 18-200mm at $960? and only get free gift 8gb card and EOS bag from agent?

Since it is your 1st dSLR, you may want to consider buying a Kit instead, it's cheaper too. I'm very happy with the 550D Kit II (EF-S 18-135 IS) which gives me nice photos & 1080p videos; just right for a beginner. You can see lens review & some sample photos here: http://tinyurl.com/EFS18135.

An avid hobbyist with a much better Canon model recommended me to get Kit II instead of I (18-55) because if it was the only lens I've got, he said 135 would be more versatile than 55, and 200 may not be too often used & subject to blurred photos from shakes if not held steadily; bulkier too. I'm very glad to have taken his sound advice. Enjoying my camera for a month now. Got a nice Crumpler bag from Canon but some said buyers now get only a typical Canon bag, not Crumpler. Rgds

Actually, I submitted this photo for the stockphoto, but they rejected it. Saying that there is a pixelation and noise in the darker area... sigghh...

Ic. I didn't follow the stock photo threads, nor submitted any, but if not wrong, when the reviewer wants to reject, they have 1000 of reasons.

Do some noise clean up and resize your pictures to 12MP. I should look perfect.

Even if u take this photo and blow up 13" x 19" Poster, the noise will not be visible anyway.

Resize means shrinking ur image to smaller size. E.g. From L's 18MP to M's 8MP from ur 550D etc.

Don't feel too disappointed if the photostock website rejects your photo. I would just say they don't appreciate the photos as much as we do.

canon actually recommend class 6 and above for recording video on 550d.... the card they give free is only class4....:dunno:

Is anybody using any CPL for the 18-55 kit lens? I notice that the focus ring will turn when u use AF. So do u have to adjust the CPL everytime after refocus?
