Never bring my tammy lens... Recently had been using 10-22mm more. Dunno why.

Bro Soons, nice picture! taken @ giant?

Anyway, what do you guys set the custom button (the 'set' button in the centre)?
For me, I set flash exposure compensation.

Just curious what other function you guys set for this button...

okie. no worries. if u wanna view it then tell me?

btw. how u shoot with e middle so clear the the rest so blur?

Yes, Tampines Giant.

@wmayeo & yinsheng
I used a technique called panning.

His hands may look blur because he is paddling!!

Lets compare again:

100% crop:

18MP GAR!! EXIF intact on all photos btw.

try using AI servo for focus?

Oh guess i'll try it, thanks for your input :)

High range of $600. That was years ago during my 350D times. ;)

Wow, anyway nice shot taken using that lens. I'm sure you're one of the veterans around here, would like to check with you, for a newbie, how do i know what lens should i get apart from knowing what i would like to snap?

Been reading alot on lens these few days and too much information, not sure what to get.

:sweatsm:

These shots were taken by Canon 10-22mm UWA. Recently had been using this lens. When reach is not enough, go home crop... :)
A LandScape 550D crop to portrait = my 350D resolution. :D

thanks soons!
No problem. If u do notice, I used similar technique for the bus shot also.
All using 1 shot focus, not AI Servo btw.

For the MRT shoot, it is blur because the MRT is moving. lolx

That's my issue as well. I remember you can press a button so the lens will re-focus while shooting the video. Just forgot what the button is. I'll check again when I get home.

The issue with that is the video might stutter while recording

nice @soons. I also have a sample panned shot of my kid while she was running. the image is also sharp at 100% crop, at least her face is. :)

Btw, did u people seen the video footage I made with 550D and S5 IS on a symphony performance??

What i did was press the shutter button half-way so it'll be focused, but then again, while the video is recording, it records the sound of the lens focusing.. :( Thus i guess have to try what yinsheng say, use AI Servo for focus and try. :p

U will need to enable autofocus in ur video mode shooting. Then half press shutter to focus during video.

This is so much better than 500D's press the zoom button to focus, which is the reason why I skip 500D. Heng ah.

Yes, Video is meant to be MF. All those professional camera are MF also.
EVen if u have USM lens, AF sound is still recorded.

Maybe using an external mic might help to minimise USM focusing sound.

So what i'm doing is correct? I don't have to use AI Servo focus instead? Well true enough after focusing using shutter button it's clearer, but just the sound. Guess like what you suggested, by attaching an external mic will help reduce the focusing sound!

Well, the sound will still be recorded I believe. Plus autofocus will temporary increase the brightness of the video (as Aperture is opened wide during AF) and it will not look good also.

MF is the only way to solve it.
Let me shamelessly post the video again, if I did:

S5 IS on tripod. 550D is going round with me to take close up. MF is a pain as u can see, a large portion of the video has to be delete due to mis-focus or wrong person at wrong time.

in this case i think AE should be locked before starting to record then, correct?

Anyone interested in getting this screen protector? I believe this is one of the closest.
http://cameras-photo.shop.ebay.com....1313&_odkw=3.4+screen+protector&_osacat=43445
Canon 550D screen (including black border) = 50mm x 70mm (a fellow 550Dian measured)
This protector: 67.5mm x 50mm
We will be missing 2.5mm on the wide side.

Then we organize a 550D outing while sharing this. lolx

Bro, check with you. Did you purchase this? How is it? I'm thinking of getting it..

Nope, I am waiting for GGS Glass protector.
