Official Canon 550D User Thread Part IV

i would go for 180mm f/3.5 macro since i have the 85mm..

anyway if you wanna take insects or flowers, 100mm is just too wide for me..

Hey bro thanks for the advice! I think I was enticed by the red ring of the L version... Haha... ;)

Anyway, got your 60D? You know I sort of miss my 550D. It is much lighter than my 60D man!

the 180mm is also a L lens, but it's not popular, due to not man people using it. but I see most shooters specialized in macro shooting would some sort of lack that the focal length is not wide enough.

60D ?? still waiting for someone to adopt it... haiz..

Hello!
4 months old 550D user here.
I mainly shoot rollerblading skating at the skateparks and weddings on the weekend.
My lens of choice are Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 EX DC HSM and 50mm f1.8.
Also got myself a 3rd party battery grip from eBay.
Do get yourself a battery grip if you do events, it helps when you're using heavier lens and you wont have much finger ache after that (I used a 400D with no grip and 24-70 f4 L, my fingers ached!)

Hi, anyone knows any compatible remote timer controller for 550D ?

I will put this to a limit of 10 people due to the equipments and with more people, I guess it will be messy and difficult for the person who would give a talk.

Rare chance, overall it's a free session and at the same time, with model to shoot.

18 - 200mm I think is still one of the best versatile lens. If only they have something like 16 - 135L F2.8 or even F3.5 - F5.6. If it cost 5000 over per lens, I think i still will buy even if it cost 5 months of my salary.

it would weigh a ton to make a constant f2.8 super zoom.

Woah sharks!
Really looking forward to going for the next 550D outing for unfortunately i will be flying on that day.
Arghhhh.:o

You guys have fun.

Was looking forward to the gathering as well.. but can't make it as I'm overseas that weekend :(
I'm gonna be missing such a good opportunity to shoot in a studio setting

Alamak!!! I got a Christmas party to attend!!! :bheart:

The whole outing I planned this time cost around $3k + with a professional model and a famous professional photographer to give a talk.

I would say, it's putting priorty right.

haha:)

got new updates, keeping my body and saving up for an ultimate lens, the 28mm f/1.8 USM !

As you can see, right now I'm with the 17-50 and 85 and 8mm. I can continue using them if I change to a 60D. I'm fine with the top up of $650, but problem is, I don't get what I want, the micro adjustment, the MG Body. My next won't be the 7D too, paying so much yet for a Crop body.

So, right now, stick back to the 550D, get the 28mm, most probably my next upgrade will be the 5D mark II or the 1D mark III, and just using the 28mm and 85mm.

In that case, after some calculation, I won't be losing much money with a major upgrade. Then instead, i will be saving more.
