Alright, then what will be the different between Tamron 17-50mm and Canon 17-85mm lens? I'm still attracted by canon's longer reach, but till now nobody has answer me why that lens is not recommended.
the tamron 17-50 has a constant aperture of f2.8 which is useful if you shoot at night alot or you favour the thin DOF that it provides.
the 17-85 is a pretty slow aperture lens, starting at f4 and ending at f5.6. Also, the lens is no way as sharp as the 17-50 wide open. at 17mm it is quite blurry at the corners unless u stop down and at 85mm, it also isnt very sharp.
If you are considering a walkabout zoom, do consider sigma 17-70 f2.8-4 OS HSM and canon 15-85. these 2 are sharp and offer a good range.
All the best in your lens decision!
