15x4. without freebies. forgot was it 1594 or 1584. lol.

i still think the earlier two shop u went give u better overall deal.

assume S$1584....either the tripod or filter + screen also cost more then S$10 diff when compare to S$1599. lol

Haha. so i guess MS color is still offering the best deal?
mmm...

Hi everyone, I'm new to ClubSnap.
Using a 550D Kit I, for about a month now...
Love to take closeup shots.
Hope to get advise from you guys on how I can improve or upgrade to take better shots.
Some of my shots are posted on my deviantArt account. Do pop by and have a look.
Cheers.;)
Practice, practice, practice. Upgrading your lens will not make you a better photographer. Go out and shoot anything and everything! only then u will improve =D

Hi, Just bought my EOS 550D today. BTW, how to check shutter count just want to make sure my camera is new.

Hey, i guess we both had our urges at the same time.
I too brought mine today~ But i only got kit 1 instead of 2. =(
Going to get my dry cabi next week. =)

does any body know what does the button below the flash and lens release button do? it is unmarked.. as far as i have noticed, it will adjust the aperture value to the desired value through the view finder.

1) Photo Jargon
I've seen people mention "Master of none" when it comes to lens. Don't really understand what it means... Is there a specific type of lens a photographer can master? I'm still pretty new to photography, hope you guys can help.

2) Closeup/Macro
I'm using 550D Kit 1, and I have an interest in taking closeup shots. But sometimes, I cant seem to get the subject to be in focus... perhaps I'm too near the subject? Is there an affordable or cheap upgrade I can get to go with the Kit lens 18-55mm that helps me with taking macros?

Below are some of my closeups... ;)
My latest closeup, Night Shot, Snail - Sleeping Snail, went pretty near the snail to take.
My first few shots on a dragonfly, Red Dragonfly Wings, crop from 18MP photo.

Thanks in advance. :)

DEPTH OF FIELD PREVIEW BUTTON p82 of your user manual

Basically, when you adjust the aperture setting to say f/x (x being 8 or higher), and you press the DOF button, you will notice the decrease in light but also observe very carefully the focus of the subject and the background with relative amount of distance from the subject. Compare the focus with that when you don't press the DOF button. You will notice that when the aperture is smaller, the background (or front) gets focused too - not just the subject.

The problem is that the light is reduced as you press the DOF so it is hard to observe the DOF change through the small viewfinder. This is more visible in Liveview.

In addition to this, pressing the DoF preview button will apparently also return the camera to One Shot AF if AI Servo has kicked in (or prevent AI Servo from kicking in if the button is kept pressed down).

you need this: http://www.photozone.de/canon-eos/161-canon-ef-50mm-f25-macro-test-report--review

or this: http://www.photozone.de/canon-eos/162-canon-ef-s-60mm-f28-usm-macro-test-report--review

do note that EF-S lens if u upgrade to full frame camera can't be used...

no point, might else well spent a little and get a EF 100mm f/2.8 macro, no need to upgrade even though you switch to full frame. I borrowed this lens to play, quite fun, and most of the things i shoot like diecast cars models, are pretty sharp...

Just got myself the sigma 17-70mm OS HSM lens. So far very great on my 550D. Did a few shots and video, so far so good. Good purchase.

Selling my tamron 28-75mm F2.8 in favour of this lens. :D

Hey, just wondering, between the 18-250 by sigma and the 18-270 by tamron which is more worth it?
